Fresh Face .... is her, but also you baby.
I have always loved the term fresh face when talking casting and mods.
Of course this is normally coming straight from the in-their-best-interest source that is the model agency wanting to promote their girls. Obviously they would not be doing their girls, and therefore themselves, any favours by advertising the babe-at-hand as "inexperienced, young, not yet super confident, but has potential".
No, instead they have cleverly coined a term that covers this same information yet in an expression that sells it so much more lucratively
... "she is a fresh face".
Despite the reality of the circumstances and the said girl's qualities remaining unchanged, she is now a gold mine who is, oh so fortunately for you, undiscovered! And this gold-mine potential could be alllll yours! You are the lucky one that can take this amazing opportunity to be the very first to profit from this shooting star before she explodes across the fashion scene and all over the world! And why would you take the risk on an unknown again... Because she my friend, is a fresh face!
If you feel like you have just taken Course 101 in sales, it is not far off as all it really is taking the product, re-packaging, re-labelling and advertising it in a more favourable, luxury light.
But you know what? This is a spin I like! And more importantly, one we can all learn and profit from! Because what if we simply applied this spin to ourselves?
We currently have ourselves, the human race to thank, for our living in a world where we are told, convinced and reminded that our lives are not where they should be, not as luminous as others, not achieving enough, not doing enough, not being enough, not this-that-or-the-other enough. A world where we are being expected to work harder and smarter, and longer, and for less, and to be on call 24/7 by the way of smartphones glued to our hands, eyes and ears. Those who like myself, now are hearing their phone vibrate or ‘ding’ even when they haven’t will know what I’m sayin...
And yet, there is hope! Because in this big, scary, more-demanding-than-ever world ... we, the human race, have developed a positive connotation!
A positive spin!
A positive something!
And so now, I encourage you to take your leap of faith into the otherwise uncharted, unexplored, perhaps scary part of your world. With your exact same set of circumstances, with the exact same reality, you, yes you my friend, can still have all of your same perceived 'short-comings' and yet these can be your most 'sell-able' quality.
All you must do, is flip your projection. Be your own fresh face.
As with this one small flip of mindset, all of a sudden, all of your 'short-comings' are actually your edge.
Your inexperience is your point of difference.
Your fresh-ness is your asset.
Your leap into the new world is your very reason that others should want you in their sphere, the very reason you are special, lucrative and rare.
So whatever excuse, label or rationale you use to justify your not taking the leap forward, flip it sister.
Because if I can quit my job in mining in the middle of the desert and and move to France without speaking french, you can be the fresh face of whatever world you want to be baby.
