GREEDLESS - a different look on society

     Equality.  What do you think of when you hear the word equality?  Do you think of race?  Human rights?  Do you think of political equality(equality between nations)?  Homeless?  Jobs?  Do you think of sexism?  These are all things that you probably should think about when you hear the word ‘equality’ but why are you thinking about those things?  Is it because you feel entitled to more for yourself or do you truly want everyone to be equal.

     When I think about equality I think of people’s fundamental human rights.  The right to survive(eat, drink, shelter), the right to defend themselves from harm, and the right to the pursuit of happiness.  These are all things I think everyone should have access to(if we can get everyone these things then we can talk about adding more as a society).  Equal treatment, everyone should be treated equally, no matter background, race, sex, orientation, appearance, location, etc.  Equal worth of time/pay/benefits.  This one may not hit home with some people.  But I believe that everyone’s time is worth the same(like how i didn’t say same amount of dollars or euros).  The President’s time isn’t worth anymore than the guy working at the gas station.  Here is an example:  Say the worker at a hydro-electric dam has a cup of coffee at the same stand everyday but the stand is closed that day so he/she has a bad day at work and something goes wrong and a big part of the city doesn’t have electricity.  This creates a lot of other jobs and people unproductive.  What I am trying to show is that our society has a webbing of jobs that all give something to society.  In this way everyone’s time put forth in their jobs is furthering society and in my eyes that makes all jobs equally beneficial to society.  I also said equal pay/benefits.  I believe one step towards creating a “Greedless” society would be to get rid of monetary value but I’ll talk about this more in another post.  Equal effort put forth.  Imagine if everyone had a job in society(I’ll talk more about this in a later post as well).  A job that they either liked or were extremely proficient at.  Then everyone would work their job for the betterment of society.

Why am I?

     This probably should have been my first blog in this series of YouTube/Content Creation blogs.  This will be some of the bigger reasons why I’m doing what I’m doing.  I hope someone reads this and gets a better understanding.

     So first off I’m doing this because I love playing video games.  I play video games all the time and thought it would be a fun experience to just put myself out there playing some.  Everyone has unique styles to playing.  Like some people like going through really fast just trying to beat the game(speed runs) others just kinda play around and get what they see as they go(casual) and others, like me, like to get everything and search every nook and cranny of a game(completionists).  So I thought I’d bring my personality and style of game-play into the content creation. (in the series I’m playing now I can’t exactly be a completionist, so it depends on what I’m doing)

     Second is Friendships.  I am excited to let my friends, I already have, see me and get to know me in a brand new and interesting way.  I hope that they all are and that they are getting to know me better.  Also, I am excited to gain new friendships!  With the new friendships it’s harder to build those up unless you comment to me or post/message me on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or YouTube.  If you do get in touch with me I will try my best to get back in touch with you ASAP.

     Finally, I wanted a new hobby.  I was getting bored with life and wanted something new to do that would interest me.  And combining something I like with a way to meet new people was cool!  And a way to meet like minded people that share interests with me was exciting.  

     There are some other smaller reasons.  Like the chance to make a monetary value out of my YouTube channel was a little exciting.  But let’s be honest here.  You aren’t making anything unless you have hundreds of thousands of subscribers.  For all my six videos up right now I’m making something like 8 cents so...hahaha...don’t think I’m doing this for the money.  That would be me getting paid less than a cent per hour I’ve put into this.  Probably less than half a cent.  I thought also that it could be a self-esteem booster for myself.  When I look and see I have a bunch of views on a video it might make me feel better about myself, or something like that.  Which is not the case at all...hahaha  There are a lot of statistics that I could show you on my page that would prove that I should not feel good about how I’m doing.  But since these are the minuscule reasons for me doing this I don’t care if they ever happen.  I’m going to keep doing this whether or not people like my content or like me because it is something that I enjoy doing.

Watching Videos

     I’m very new to this, so my opinion may not matter much to most people here.  I’m still going to post this just because this is what I am thinking right now.  I will eventually get to most of the taboo discussions that Content Creators “aren’t supposed” to talk about.  But first let’s talk about watching videos.

     As of now I have around 70 views but somehow with my videos being 30 minutes or longer I only have 120 minutes of view time.  You’d think that I’d have (70*30) minutes of view time, which doing math off the top of my head, I think is 2100 minutes.  I don’t think that it’s a really big deal .  Views on my videos make them higher up in the ranks of that type of video but seeing that the average view time on all my videos is less than 2 minutes on any video is pretty discouraging, especially since that isn’t even a 10th the length of the video...

     If I am doing something that you don’t like in my videos then go ahead and comment it.  Be polite but tell me what I can do to get better, so you will want to stay around more.  If you didn’t have enough time to watch the whole video I understand that, I’ve paused a video for later because I had to go do something.  If you just don’t like the kind of content that I’m putting out (Pokemon, Video Games) that is also fine, the best way you could help me is to tell people, that you think would like it, about my channel.

     I think that is all for this post.  I know it is an annoying topic, especially for the viewer.  I’ve been there not wanting to turn off adblock or just want to watch a little bit of a video.  Now that I am on the other side though I see everything from a new perspective.  So I hope you take what I’ve said and chew on it and understand from my point of view what is happening.
