Well well well…here we are again. I actually remembered to do an update…it’s not a HUGE one (I hop between projects, and also did all the tablet targets between last post and this one.), but it’s still something, so…GOOD JOB, ME! *butt pats*
First up, is the ‘Hub’ which is pretty much my favorite thing here. I love the blank white blocks. Works well for minimalist/modern, and since I’m just building for function and not form for this, blank blocks are perfect, and white isn’t eye bleeding.
I kinda have a builder boner for storage systems. Like, can we all just talk about how freeing it is to have an empty inventory and go to an explorer shore—and it doesn’t matter if you take your golem and level the place—you have room for 40bajillion stacks of swampy soil. >.>
Like, it’s basement wetting, alright?
…I play this game too much.
ANYWAY, if you want to know more about how I broke down this Hub and what I put in it, leave me a note—if not, no big.
Keep reading to see what I’ve been up to!
The Warehouse District
This is the over arching shot of both finished buildings, the groundcover, and some decorating. I still have a few more buildings to add, but the town’s lively hood is done! Fucking nuts that these two relatively large structures made it to 100% so fast, but thanks to years of Minecraft training giving me Storage ideas I don’t mind the trek to grab different decorations.
On that note, anyone else habitually steal the crates/barrels on the docks at every Explorer’s Shore? No? Just me? Ok, moving on
Wood Mill
So, this was the second building I worked on after the Stone Mill. I think that I like this one a little less, too…mainly because all the little things that make this build cool, I figured out doing the Stone Mill. There’s a small toilet under the stairs, and if you go to the second floor (how I got the inside shot), it’s got a balcony over the work area.
Not sure what I’ll name it, just yet, but the devil’s in the details for this one.
Draven Dragonheart’s Stone Mill (DD’s)
This was the hard one. I wasn’t sure starting out what materials to use…I don’t especially enjoy the concrete block, but for a basic structure for a budding town, it would have been perfect, and I cannon this building is the oldest in Dragonheart.
I know I keep mentioning Minecraft, but…dammit—I learned so many good concepts there, that are amazing for DQB2! Like using depth in your builds…it’s a lot easier to do in DQB2 because you’re not JUST dealing with square blocks and imagination. You have actual items, and it’s…oof.
There’s another builder boner.
The inside shot for this building is my favorite out of all of the inside screenshots. The piles of earth and rocks, the furnaces in the back and the grass. it looks worn down, and well worked.
BIG CHUNGUS aka The Technicolor Dream Cave
Yup…built the mountain. Another mountain. (Friendship mountain in my friend’s town is still in progress, I digress.) Again, it’s hollow, but I’m working on filling it with pathways and fishing holes for the elders.
Most of the cave was made using colored chalk, and then I used the trowel to replace with Umber. Now…I’m all for the ease of this method, but this was before I got the buildnoculars, and I had to remove the chalk that didn’t get changed one by one after nerd poleing up to the roof….which you can see from the inside shot, is kinda high. >.>
Next mountain I build is getting made once—not three freaking times.
((Also, for those of you who watch streams on Twitch—I do stream my building on occasion. Now I’m not saying ‘lawl subscribe’ because I’m trying to “get rich”. I don’t even have a schedule on there. I literally only stream when I feel like it.
I just want people to talk to in chat while I play, because as you can tell, 695 words in, I kinda love this game!
My foster litter pre-intake. 3 weeks old and SO SO SMOL! The runt was miniscule at near half the size of the other two.
They were found in the back of a truck abandoned--the two orange boys had urine scalding pretty bad. I was most worried for the brighter orange one (runt) but then it turned out his brother, the cameo tabby was the one needing the ER Vet week two.
Why...you ask
He was ready to wean a week early and the formula was giving him the shits and curdling in his stomach. He ate a can of wet food there and was fine.
The little dilute calico hasn't been any trouble at all. She's precious, and gives kisses, as does her younger brother.
They're 5 weeks now, and doing so SO well. Picture dump incoming.
The blue banner that once stood proudly over the unnamed isle now lies limply on the sand. The last banner bearer fell taking with them the breeze that once graced the island’s shores. The sky blue canvas now worn and ripped with no one left to care for them, are still as the dead who’s faces have faded from memory.
Atop the dusty purple stairs, the gatehouse sits before the portcullis papers strewn about and inkwell dry. The blue flames synonymous with monster kind cast an eerie glow over the faded names on the papers strewn about. All are dead, now without question. No padding of human feet or rattling of bones.
Outside the window the gnarled ancient tree stands over the bleached bones of a dragon. Dead plants, mushrooms and the ruined husks of sentry bots scattered about paint a grisly picture of what is to find beyond the gates:
A city of monsters spiraling up to the great God Malroth’s home, landscape twisted by the inhabitants over centuries, the grass withered and purple around plasma and poison pools that keep modern visitors to the paths.
Though history is split on what exactly happened on the curving paths of the monster’s city, one thing is agreed upon as the prisoners of Hargon climb to visit Malroth:
Everyone was making such awesome prompts list so thought I’d make my first one.
No need to stress on this one, this is weekly rather than daily! Artists, Writers, Crafts persons or anyone who wants to share their in-game builds are all welcome alike. So be polite, be spooky, and most importantly have fun builders! ^-^ ♡
Fourteen goddamned hours placing chalk blocks across a large buildertopia island to plan my town. like....the fuck?
I mean, that's a win for my ADHD meds, but god damn.
Anyway, for anyone who's played DQB2, after end game you can get another island you can free build on. I made one--didn't extensively plan, and hated it.
Today has me set for a while. I need to do my pallette work, and a lot of terraforming, but it's all planned.
All. Planned.
And there's more past what the FOV will allow. Fields are white and numbered. Farm houses gray. Paths in red outside the city. Hell, I even have spots for traveling merchants, AND am extending a good chunk of the island for a forest in the South West corner.
There's really cool features I have planned, and I'm debating writing lore for the town before uploading my island for people to tour so they can check that out if they want. (Not sure if anyone would be interested or not).
For map shots, click below the cut!
Anyway, I took four map shots from above to show the scope:
TOP LEFT: Far west. Ports, warehouse district. The purple in the left is the start of the magic schooling area. The purple I's are islands, and there's a waterfall off the mountain on the far left that they come from.
Circles are towers, and black is walls...until I ran out, then red.
TOP RIGHT: Well-to-do area, shopping area, town square and beach.
BOTTOM LEFT: The low-class area is SL, and then we get to the farms for both livestock as well as produce. A field for flowers snuck in, too.
BOTTOM RIGHT: You can see the pink outline of what I'm adding. That area is the forest--the circle will be a faerie ring, and the plus signs are for the merchant camps. I have farm houses as well as a fisherman's hut in there as well.
I'm still planning on doing more tonight, but it'll likely be sectioning things so I can build in reasonable chunks. (I didn't do that on my bestie's buildertopia and while I did make a mountain in 2 days, my eyes hated me for it.)
I want to post here every now and again with progress shots as this will likely take a good while working alone. I may call in the bestie on occasion, but I've noticed, building improves my mood--and I've had a shit couple of months.
ANYWAYS--thanks for reading. Can't wait to show ya'll more!
So I’ve been working more on Scarlet Sands and the port area for it. Shop shells are done--a lot of decorating and landscaping needs to happen before I take more shots or upload my island, but one day.
I’m trying to tell little stories all over the build. It makes things easier to clutter since we’re limited. My main priority is making cool things for people who want to visit, in that spot more than my villagers (I am FAR over the 100 room cap--haha, ho boy).
I’ve also been running around in the sexy swimsuit...but I have on the armor under it. So, i get +80 defense, and you can see little nega-builder’s belly button. Cute, right?
The pier and the tidal pools will be a huge task to get done, but I need a break, so I'm moving along to other things. The last pond area has been Oasis-ized and I had a cackling moment when it looked like I had a pool of velveeta cheese! (I used the Orange colored block to raise water height.)
More info on the palette and another picture under the cut!
ANYWAY-- back to the pier and shops!
I did the ancient ruin blocks with the seaside scene blocks. Wooden roof and plumberry bracing. The doors and decorations are yellow and dark wood to contrast the blue.
It's really adorable, and its not something I would normally do, but the game makes it easy to find things to do with the patterned blocks.
I also did an open air bar between two sets of shops on a diagonal, and it turned out pretty good. I made my own bar back decorated with coconut trees. The stools are yellow and blue to keep with the theme.
A Fat Rat sign welcomes you to the Seaside Vineapple.
Its taken me since my last post to get screenshots. Why? The trap of:
“I’ll just decorate a bit more.”
Three days later and my build has grown to almost the entirety of Scarlet Sands. I went through a large process with this build emotionally. I got very excited for it and started off strong, but the past two days I’ve been wanting to grab McSmashy and demolish it and start over after more planning.
Thankfully I’ve gotten to the place of liking it again, though it needs a lot more work. Unfortunately said work will have to wait until I get the Utilimallet because I need to place trees, cacti and rocks. You know the fun landscaping shit.
But, after two days of saying ‘this needs a lantern’, forgetting the lantern and building a new barn or some shit, Screenshots are here.
I’ll say a bit about each picture, in case anyone cares.
1. How I planned. I can’t explain how I do it, but I’m pretty okay at terraforming. I was using any block I had on me that would clash with the sand and rock to plan out the first initial steps. Trowel on the finishing block. Most of it ended up being chalk, but was changed to a base of Sandstone, Sandy Sandstone and Sand. The flower and Arid Earth blocks are the two sides of my wall. One wide is too thin, and two didn’t feel right.
2. The Armorer for Scarlet Sands. This and the accompanying shops (pic 3) were one of those ‘I need something in the background or I’ll scream’ things. It’s 4 enterable rooms and 2 fake ones up top. I decorated with coffee beans because I like the wood/red/adobe and brick combo. The green is vibrant as well—thanks contrasting colors!
3. My items shop. I’ve never gotten one to work, and I don’t know why. But still, its there, registers as a small item shop. Meh. It’ll work eventually.
4. The outside of my barn that was again a panic build. (See inside of barn in picture 5.) I had been doing most of the buildings with the wooden panels for ‘structural integrity’ but this area is my ‘green space so I went with the hanging plants. I wanted to give the villagers somewhere to sit between working fields, so that’s how this little area came about.
5. My barn’s interior. The villagers are in here a lot.
6. The view from the roof of my barn. It shows off my farms, which I’m very proud of, as well as the restaurant, and town hall/city center. In the far back is the Inn where most everyone sleeps while I’m decorating houses.
7. This is the paddock outside the barn. I decided to give my dogs, PUPPER and San (KPOP, anyone? (my sister is a fan)) The Brick wall to the right is stairs for another building, so I put more of the wall plants to fill space.
8. This is the top of the Barn itself. I find Rosie up here a lot, which is cute. I really enjoy the scene—like these farmers have little parties up here after a late night.
9. My pool for the Scarlet sands. It’s in that little oasis FAAAR back from the tablet. I can do more in depth on this because there’s a lot of parts. Fish ponds, pool, hot spring, bar and hot tub. Also, after this shot I added a changing room and shower room.
10. Said bar/hot tub up top. It registered as a garden, but they’ll still drink on occasion. It’s one of my favorite parts of the entire area. Its not done yet, but I’m not sure what’ll finish it off properly.
So yeah. That’s what I’ve been working on this week. Hope everyone enjoys. If you have any questions or want to see something specific, I’ll answer asap!
“Shh, it’s okay. It was just a nightmare. I’m right here.”
(妄想) HC: Kurie has nightmares losing Malroth all over again, afraid that this time he might not come back. Malroth understands, having his own fears of losing her. It was a tough time for them but they’re each other’s rock, reassuring one another that they’ll always be there.
Speech Bubble and close-ups!
