After the TV show, His Dark Materials aired, a new daemon quiz has been introduced. It's beautiful and very well done, although it's meant just for entertainment.
On the other hand, MBTI is presented as "scientific" personality typology, and to me personally, it's almost like astrology. Why? Because even the most experienced psychologist can't figure out every single aspect of one's mind - so why would an online test succeed where nobody else did?
We got the MBTI quiz in 1942, and the goal was to asses the person's qualities to help to find an ideal career. Despite its current popularity, this assessment has certain limitations. The test is based on C.G.Jung's theories published before psychology became empiric science.
Secondly, it only describes the respondent in four dimension - Introvert/Extrovert, Intuition/Senses, Thinking/Feeling and Judging/Prospecting. The results can vary based on the time you take it - for example, I'm oscillating between INTJ/ENTJ based on how tired and fed up with people I am at the moment.
There are 16 results, while the daemon quiz has 285 outcomes. It's a primary problem in comparing these two things.
What was the point of my "research" (haha, a good one, Fritz) then? Trying to identify the possible correlation of the results of both - the Daemon quiz and MBTI.
Thanks, everyone who answered my question; here are the results:
INFP - owl, fox, wolverine
INTP - owl, anteater, bat, arachnid, armadillo
INTJ - fox, snow leopard, corvids, duck, buffalo, osprey
ENFP - dogs (wild/domestic)
Obviously, these results are far from relevant, because I didn't have enough data. It's more than clear than the internet is full of introverts. The extroverts are somewhere outside instead of taking online quizzes. Naturally, the amount of answers is greatly affected by the respondents' literature preferences - the trilogy might be more appealing to the Intuitive types.
Most respondents I got were INTJ. As you can see, the results vary a lot. Like a lot.
Sorry to all the beautiful types, let's stick with INTJs for a little while. There are definitely more than 4 dimensions to describe the person, and each personality is defined by many aspects, such as overall attitude, curiosity, assertiveness, kindness... All the sides the MBTI completely disregards, while the daemon quiz tries to take them into consideration.
You can be an INTJ seeking challenges, but also you can prefer learning new things without taking risks. You can be a natural leader, whereas another INTJ prefers working in their projects alone.
In the end, the fan-created daemon quiz can tell you more about you than the popular MBTI.
I can finally answer my question: No. There are no relations between those quizzes, and my initial idea was utterly wrong. Sh*t happens, life goes on. At least I had some fun and satisfied my own curiosity.
PS: My daemon is an osprey. I’m happy, although it always makes that “WTF am I reading” expression.
