Again--the framing here is quite funny and warrants a closer scrutiny.
“my “joy” is contingent on people like you not shaming people for being happy with work they’ve already done.” Which part of my post “shamed” you for anything? Genuinely curious to know, because like, this is precisely what the fuck I’m talking about.
Liberals take any sort of critique of anything makes them feel good as a moral indictment of their feelings and, by extension, themselves as people. That speaks to the sort of way their politics are structured, which, imo, warrants closer scrutiny.
“if you want to be angry forever with no breaks to acknowledge what progress you’ve made, then be my guest. but stop trying to bully other people for being happy with what they’ve done. “
I do think it’s quite interesting how you think that being aware of the realities, which many of us cannot escape from, and reminding people of those realities, means “being angry forever”.
Moreover, the implication that speaking about those realities, and reminding people of the shortfalls of the way they approach politics (which this “pls stop ruining our fun” line of thought is a prime example of btw, which is why I pointed it out specifically) = “bullying them.”
Like, telling people who speak abt how there really isn’t much joy to take from these things to shut up, bc it impedes on your joy personally, is likely what most people would classify as “shutting someone down” and “shaming” them, but y’know, wtf do I know.
“it’s shitty takes like this that makes young people think they can only care about one thing.” Lol.
“people should be ecstatic with what we’ve done here. life is a series of small wins until you get what you’re after.”
You literally place yourself as the arbiter of everyone else’s feelings with this line but then literally in the next one you say, “your feelings matter too?????” So which is it? Because you can’t tell people to shut up and be ecstatic when they clearly don’t agree with you on the issue, and then offer a mealy-mouthed, “Oh but your feelings matter too, even though I’m gonna act like they don’t if they happen to be inconvenient to me!!!”
“but that doesn’t mean people aren’t allowed to experience joy. people are allowed to be happy that the hero of the KKK will be out of office. people are allowed to be happy that the next president isn’t a literal white supremacist. “
Again, please do point out to me where, in my initial post, I said people *can’t* feel this way???
“I want you to shut the absolute fuck up because you’re literally influencing the people who will be able to vote next election.
alkdfja;lsdkfjasldkfjasdfasdfadfadsf it’s flattering to ascribe this amount of power and influence to a group of people who shit post on a regular basis but okay.
“you’re telling them that if they cared, they’d be angry that we took the country back from a wannabe dictator. they’d be angry at us for celebrating his downfall.”
Where the fuck did I say this in my initial post?
“but yeah! shut the fuck up! let people experience their emotions without feeling guilty because you aren’t happy! “
If you feel guilty, maybe (and hold on with me for a second here) this is a *you* problem specifically?? Like, you reblogged *my* post with your take. You could have kept scrolling, and your joy would have remained unimpeded. If you felt guilty, maybe that says something about you and not me.
“we can be happy that we won and keep going or we can be angry that we aren’t further ahead.“
It’s pretty clear someone did in fact misconstrue things, but it’s good to know form this conclusion that it aint’ me.
