hello again!! thank u for answering the favorite question ask hehe <3 it's a pleasure to learn more about people!!!
if youre in need of prompts or suggestions, may i slide subaru and shion your way? i like including people's favorites SJHSJDJD
i think it'd be really interesting if subaru had an mc that did fall asleep to ghost stories and the like, instead of being scared of the paranormal . does his voice is soothing and the fact that they feel safe add to it? probably!
in the same vein i think it'd be interesting if shion had an mc that asked him to tell them scary stories and stuff so they could fall asleep. shion wouldn't be having as much fun but its nice having someone feel safe around you man...right?? LMAO
ANYWAYS!!! THATS MY IDEAAAA i hope if you decide to write it that it is fun for you <3 YIPPEEEE
As someone who LOVES horror stories, (and admittedly, I DO play horror games/read horror novels to fall asleep) I feel like this is super in my element!
I chose to write this out as headcanons because there's a ton of ideas swimming around in my mind from this prompt and I'd go on forever if I'd written this out as a story~
So here it is:
He'd be a bit caught off guard the moment you ask him to tell you ghost stories. Considering his demure, shy demeanor, he'd most likely take a moment to answer your request, but will eventually opt to appease you. He does have a long history of acting, after all, so making a ghost story believable is easy enough. He can't help but oblige if it's something that will entertain you. And at the end of it, it may just be a reason to hold you if you do get creeped out.
He can quote the most terrifying stories from memory without much thought, as he'd been through the scripts many times. He's a pro. He immediately gives the whole room an air of horror and intrigue, fluctuating between characters as if they were all a part of himself. It gives you chills, and you curl deep into your blankets, your eyes wide with wonder and excitement, unable to look away from his visage.
He might catch himself being so in character that he has to break away here and there to check in on you to ensure that he's not actually making you uncomfortable. When you tell him to keep going and that you're enjoying it, he can't fight the modest smile that pulls at his lips before he flows right back into the story.
Regardless of how much enjoyment you get out of his theatrics, he still keeps you on your toes, and you mindlessly grip your sheets, the suspense causing you to both tense and relax at the same time.
His voice is angelic, calming. Though, the story he quotes is actually terrifying. It's perfect. Causing you to keep all focus on him until your eyes become so heavy that you drift off unexpectedly.
He can't deny that, despite how wild your request was, he is extremely engrossed in the act, enjoying himself and the fact that you're actually this comfortable with this side of him. He's able to set aside some of his shyness for you, to share this part of himself with someone who will have it.
Once he finishes, his cheeks flush red when he notices that you've fallen asleep, your chest slowly rising and falling. Not a sign of nightmares or discomfort. You really did find his performance calming. It melts his heart, and there is an unmistakable smile that consumes his features as he pulls the covers over your shoulders.
Ever the contrarian, Shion would be immediately tempted to turn you down, and he might initially refuse your request, though, his love for frightening people and the fact that he's already there next to you would change his mind. If something wasn't his own idea, he would need some extra convincing or perhaps a bout of reverse psychology. Of course he'd find a way to turn this request into a potential thrill under the guise of benefit to himself.
Though he's not an actor like Subaru, he's incredibly capable of weaving a story together in a way that keeps your attention. You take note of every drop in his voice. Every raspy whisper that sends a cold jolt up your spine. Every wicked laugh that leaves your skin plagued in gooseflesh. He amazes you.
Unfortunately for him, you're thoroughly enjoying this, your eyes, though heavy, are alight with wonder and excitement. He might pause to grimace at you or make a short comment to spare his own pride, but deep down, he's thrilled to be around someone that actually enjoys his antics. He'd NEVER admit this to anyone. But some faint spark in his glances gives off the hints so that he doesn't need to speak them into existence.
Shion, feeling that he hasn't succeeded until you've shown signs of genuine fear, would turn up the horror. He'd reach a flow state, his dialogue and voice fluctuations becoming more intense, the creepiness turning to horrifying macabre themes that almost get to be too much. He's intent on frightening you.
You can't deny that his efforts are endearing in a way, his commitment to "making you cry" causing you to bury your head in the blankets to hide your flattered smile. This ends up getting misconstrued for fear, and you don't fight Shion's teasing remarks about you being a frightened baby. In fact, you can only smile to yourself more intensely beneath the blankets.
Not willing to stop there, Shion goes on, telling you that the story that he's moving to is true. Horror stories about the Cathedral Terminale, of course. Because who would he be if not a thorough man? He has every intention of driving the nail in and making sure that you'd never want to sleep alone again.
He puts his all into his final story, his voice animated and hands flailing wildly as he speaks with such gusto that you could almost swear that he'd grown up in a theatre. However, to his dismay, you've fallen asleep, half of your face still buried under the blankets hiding the fond smile that never left. He pulls the blankets back, a large frown on his face. However, once he's 100% certain that you're actually asleep, he keeps a silent gaze on you, knitted brows loosened, features softened, brushing stray locks of hair away from your face so that he can drink in the lovely features of his sleeping partner.
