When you heard Rosé’s laughs echoing in the hallway of the YG building and her voice becoming louder as she came closer to where you were, you looked around you, quickly looking for an escape from her. But as soon as you started to move from your position against the wall, she turned the corner and came into your vision. And you came into hers.
“(Y/N)!” She shouted excitedly, a grin on her face as she came walking towards you with Jennie at her side.
“Hi,” Jennie said with a smile.
“Hi, guys,” you said, a small smile on your face to be polite.
“What are you up to?” She asked, and you thought of excuses in your head to reply to what you knew was coming. You didn’t like how nervous you were whenever you were around her. “We’re going out to lunch. Want to join?”
“Um,” you paused, looking at her hopeful expression and getting a warm feeling in your chest as she stared at you with big eyes. “I can’t. I’ve got to get some paperwork done, so uh,” you began to walk backwards away from the pair. “Bye, have fun.”
And as you turned around and walked away from them, you couldn't help but think of the disappointed look on Rosé’s face as you said no. Her smile fell from her face and her eyebrows furrowed, and although you thought she looked cute, you couldn’t help but feel immensely guilty-
No. No. You wouldn't do this. You were allowed to say no. There was no reason for you to feel guilty.
There wasn’t, you stressed to yourself in your head.
You spent the rest of the day trying not to think of the look on her face, and failed immensely.
The next few weeks after your encounter with Rosé that kept you feeling guilty for days, Blackpink was preparing for a comeback. It gave a perfect distraction for the girls, and it kept you from seeing Rosé for weeks. It helped to stay away from her so you didn’t have to think about the weird feeling you got in your chest whenever she spoke to you, smiled at you, or even looked at you.
You were walking out of the YG building to take your lunch break, and you were on your way to a nearby café when you heard a yell from behind you. You froze, immediately recognizing the voice.
“(Y/N)!” She shouted again, and you turned around to be greeted with a sweaty Rosé running towards you in gym clothes.
“Hey,” you said as she stopped next to you. She smiled, and you clenched your fists when the familiar feeling in your chest returned.
“Are you going to the café? I’m on my way there now to get some drinks for me and the rest of the girls. We can walk together!” She exclaimed and began to walk ahead of you, and you nervously followed next to her.
“Yeah, um, I’m just gonna stop in. I have to get back to the building soon and-”
“We’ll be quick!” She interrupted and gave you a bright smile. You couldn’t find it in yourself to give her a smile back.
As she continued to chat with you only giving small, short replies, you found yourself enjoying her company more and more. Along with that, you felt your nerves growing.
The two of you arrived at the café, ordered and got your orders before quickly leaving and making your way back to the YG building. You had begun to talk more and more in response to her and when you had arrived back to where you started, Rosé gave a pout.
“I’ll see you again soon, right?” She said, reaching in for a hug. When she wrapped her arms around you and leaned her head against yours, you breathed in deeply, the feeling in your chest growing even more than it had ever been. You could only force yourself to murmur a “Mhm” after she pulled away.
“Bye bye,” she gave you one last grin before turning on her heel and walking down one of the hallways in front of you. You sighed deeply, begging the yelling in your chest to quiet down.
And as you walked down one of the hallways towards your office, you tried to think of why you were feeling this way whenever you were around Rosé. She made you feel giddy but nervous, and her smile could make you grin twice as big, and when she hugged you, you thought every nerve in your body was about to explode. But still, you couldn’t seem to figure out-
You stopped walking, eyes wide and heart beating erratically in your ears.
You liked her. You liked Rosé.
No, you wouldn’t believe it. You wouldn’t.
You continued walking to your office with the thoughts in your head becoming even louder than your heartbeat.
After the girls’ comeback, you had begun to see them more as they didn’t have to practice as much. That wasn’t a good thing, in your eyes.
You had tried to ignore Rosé even more, but you away found her in your office waiting for you. Today was one of those days.
“Hello,” she smiled when you walked in, hopping off of where she was sitting on your desk, and you nearly dropped the drink in your hand when you saw her.
“What are you doing here,” you said, avoiding her eyes as you went to set your folders down on your desk.
“Thought I’d come see what you were doing. Wanna go grab lunch?” She asked, and you could hear the hopefulness in her voice.
“I can’t,” you replied, still not looking her in the eyes. You busied yourself by organizing the papers in your folders. (They were already organized.) “I’m busy.”
“Oh, come on. Just take a quick break with me!” She came closer to you. You continued to stare at your desk.
“Rosé, I said I can’t. Please get out,” you forced yourself to say, and the silence in the room that followed broke your heart the littlest bit.
“I-” she began to speak, but when she started to back away from you, you knew she couldn't find the right words to say. “Okay,” she whispered, and when you heard the door close behind her, you sighed and sat down in your desk chair. You dropped your head into your hands, breathing deeply to compose yourself.
You didn’t care. You didn’t care. You didn’t have feelings for her. You didn’t care.
In the upcoming weeks, you hadn’t seen Rosé around much, which you were thankful for. You were drowned in work, and you didn’t need her or the thought of her as a distraction. Today, you were swamped with paperwork and needed to run around the building to get multiple idols’ signatures. You were running around the hallways with stacks of papers in your hands, and you had just met with the iKON boys when you ran out of their practice room.
Not looking where you were going, you collided with another person. The papers in your hands flew everywhere as you fell to the ground, as well as the other person.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” you said, rushing to stand to help them. You gasped when you saw Rosé on the ground, slowly sitting up and standing herself. “I, uh, are you okay?”
She looked at you with surprise. “Yeah, I’m fine. Are you?”
“Yeah,” you nodded, and then quickly scrambled to your knees again to pick up all the papers sprawled everywhere. You saw from the corner of your eye that Rosé knelt to help you, too. The two of you stayed silent as you tried to get the papers back into one pile. When you were done, the two of you stood up silently, and she handed you the rest of the papers.
“Thanks,” you whispered before grabbing them and quickly walking past her.
You didn’t notice how she stared after you with a sad expression on her face.
A knock on your office door a few days letter made you jump in your chair, and you were hesitant to open it, worried it would be Rosé on the other end. Nevertheless, you stood up and opened the door. You found Lisa on the other side.
“Hi,” you said, stepping to the side for her to enter.
“Hey,” she replied, walking in and standing by your desk.
“What’s up?” You asked, sitting back down in your chair. You stared up at her, becoming slightly nervous when you noticed her stoic facial expression. She was always one to smile. “Is something wrong?”
“Why won’t you talk to Rosé?” She asked, and you held your breath, waiting for more to come. “She’s clearly upset, and you haven’t been around lately, so I’m assuming the two are connected. What did you do to her?”
You let out the breath and stared down at your fidgeting hands on your desk. “I, um. I’ve just been busy.”
“Bullshit,” she snarled, beginning to look angry. “She doesn’t deserve this. You need to fix whatever you’ve done.”
“I can’t,” you stressed, standing up and beginning to pace. “I can’t speak to her. She makes me nervous and then she’s all I think about and she’s- she’s Rosé. I can’t- I can’t think around her.”
Silence filled the air after your rant and you stopped walking, eyes widening after realizing what you had just spilled to Lisa. You knew she wouldn’t tell anyone, you were close enough with her to know that, but still.
“You like her,” Lisa said, breaking the silence after a minute.
“Of course I like her, she’s my friend,” you stuttered over your words, holding your breath and waiting for Lisa to believe your words.
“No, you like her like her,” she said, tilting her head slightly.
You tried to breathe before replying, but you only found yourself beginning to tear up. “I like her,” you finally said, out loud, and your resolve began to crack. “Fuck, I like her.”
You ran your hand through your hair, beginning to pace back and forth again. You had tried to ignore the statement from entering your head, but now that you had said it out loud and now that you knew it was true, you didn’t know what to do.
“(Y/N),” Lisa said softly, coming to wrap her arms around you when she noticed a tear fall from your eye. “It’s okay. Why are you crying?”
“What am I supposed to do now?” Your voice cracked as you spoke. You wrapped your arms around her waist and let her comfort you.
Nervously fidgeting your hands as you waited outside the Blackpink practice room, you tried to relay the speech you had been writing the past few days for this moment. All memory of the speech flew out of your head when the door opened and there Lisa stood, smiling and welcoming you in. She gave you a knowing look as she told Jennie and Jisoo to follow her out of the room, and Rosé watched them leave with a confused expression.
The look was replaced with a blank one when you closed the door behind them. The two of you stared at each other for a few silent moments before you spoke.
“Hey,” you said, fidgeting with your fingers behind your back.
“Hi,” she said, turning around to grab her water bottle from the floor. She took a few gulps before placing it back down, and the silence continued.
“What are you doing here, (Y/N)? I’m busy,” she said, and you recognized the words as the same you had said to her a while back in your office. You felt a pang in your heart, the crippling guilt returning.
“I wanted to apologize,” you forced out, clenching your fidgeting fingers into fists. You tried to think of anything from your speech and you yearned to reach into your pocket to read from the paper you had written it on, but you wouldn’t do that. You decided to wing it. “I wasn’t- treating you well, and I shouldn’t have been so rude to you, and I apologize for that. I wasn’t being a good friend.”
She stared at you silently, blank expression still on her face, and she seemed to be analyzing you when she continued to stay silent. “Why’d you do it?” She finally asked.
She waited for your response as you tried to gather your nerves up and shove them away. “I like you,” you said, awaiting the backlash you were sure was to come.
Her eyebrows rose on her forehead and you thought you saw the ends of her lips twitching to form into a smile, but you didn’t want to get your hopes up, so you ignored it.
“Why didn’t you just tell me?” She asked, tilting her head to the side.
“I’m not exactly great with my feelings,” you choked out, a blush beginning to dust on your cheeks.
You heard a laugh and you looked up quickly, seeing a grin on Rosé’s face. “You could’ve told me,” she says, beginning to walk closer to you. You stayed frozen in your spot by the door.
“Could I have?” You asked, watching as she slowly made her way to you until she was only a foot away. You could see every detail in her face, from the small dimple in her cheek to the perfect curl of her eyelashes.
She seemed to move even closer, as close to your face as she’s ever been before. Your heart was beating erratically in your ears, almost distracting you from the fact that she was so close to you.
“Yes, you could have,” she whispered. “Because I like you, too.”
And then she pressed her lips to yours, and in that moment, you didn’t know why you had ever tried to deny your feelings for her.
