Donât you dare lose that magic in your heart young sprite. Donât ever stop running barefoot in the fields, climbing trees, reading old fairy stories, donât lose that childhood whimsy and innocence, and ease of belief! Donât let yourself be so clouded in the mechanics and machinery that is every day life that you lose that wild spirit and wonderful wicked mischievousness. Donât lose your spontaneity and sense of adventure. One day when your old and your body fails you, it will be the sparkle in your eye, and the grin on your face, knowing you didnât live just a life, you lived the most wild and extravagant one of all.
If youâve been up all night and cried till you have no more tears left in you - you will know that there comes in the end a sort of quietness. You feel as if nothing was ever going to happen again.
C.S. Lewis, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (via feellng)
To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves (via dear-hannah)
I never told him, but I think he knew the offer was on the table. If he ever wanted to come back, I would let him open the door and just walk through. But, he didnât. He was more like a drizzle in a drought, a dandelion surrounded by weeds, and a fast glance of the view as youâre speeding down the highway. He was there, but he never was.

I want to be unafraid. I want to be full of light and love and kindness. I want to go on adventures and rejoice in the beauty of living.
Christ touches us more deeply than our pain or our guilt.

Some periods of our growth are so confusing that we donât even recognize that growth is happening. We may feel hostile or angry or weepy and hysterical, or we may feel depressed. It would never occur to us, unless we stumbled on a book or a person who explained to us, that we were in fact in the process of change, of actually becoming larger, spiritually, than we were before. Whenever we grow, we tend to feel it, as a young seed must feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of its shell on its way to becoming a plant. Often the feeling is anything but pleasant. But what is most unpleasant is the not knowing what is happening. Those long periods when something inside ourselves seems to be waiting, holding its breath, unsure about what the next step should be, eventually become the periods we wait for, for it is in those periods that we realize that we are being prepared for the next phase of our life and that, in all probability, a new level of the personality is about to be revealed.
