I just realized... Flowery isn't just exploiting the game mechanics by starting a fight to stop the knight from fleeing. (you can't flee battles in Deltarune)

He's specifically using two floradinns, just like the only fight in the game where he is on the "protagonist" side as a party member! Flowery knows how the game mechanics work, and exploits the fact he is programmed to count as a main character only for fights against floradinn! The "Some enemies showed up!" text is even the same in both fights.
