This is Hope the Nightwing, my WoF OC. 🌌✨
I am almost halfway through reading the second arc and decided to make an OC for the first time for WoF. I started reading the books in 2012 so I am surprised with myself 😂
Hope was born many generations before Darkstalker, so during the height of the Night Kingdom.
In this age, there is unrest in the Night Kingdom under the rule of Queen Nightfall and her mate, King Nightflame. In their growing indulgence, the Night Kingdom is growing rapidly and Queen Nightfall is conspiring to conquer territory from the Skywings.
On one fateful bright night under the light of the full moons, the Queen’s top seer and closest advisor, Shadowspinner, has a prophecy. His prophecy states that the night will fall by a dragon born under the light of the moons. This dragon alone can bring light to the darkness.
Out of fear and rage, Queen Nightfall orders all dragonets that are hatched that night and every following bright night to be destroyed. She then outlaws dragons with mind-reading and foresight abilities (besides her own advisors). The Queen fears that her throne will be at stake, obviously knowing that the prophecy is about her downfall. However, she tells her subjects that it is the fall of the entire kingdom that is at stake.
Hope is born into this chaos, unknowingly, and his mother hides him in the stock of a traveling Rainwing merchant. The merchant returns to the Rain Kingdom the following morning, frightened by the Nightwing Queen’s dark edict.
The Rainwing merchant, named Trogon, returns to his treehouse to be with his family: his mate Gem, and two 1-year old daughters named Quetzal and Caracara.
The Rainwing family lets Trogon name the Nightwing dragonet since he spends a lot of time trading in the Night Kingdom. He names the newborn dragonet Hope.
Hope grows to love the rainforest, especially at night. On the brightest nights… it seems that the moons themselves speak to him…
When he comes of age, Hope will eventually have to leave the rainforest and face his destiny. The Night Kingdom waits for him to bring back light to their darkness.
