Before Your Kid's First Ride: 5 Things That Actually Matter Long-Getting a gas mini bike for your kid is exciting. But most parents skip the setup steps that actually determine how safe and enjoyable that first season is.
Here are 5 things worth doing before your rider ever starts the engine:
1. Fit the gear first. Helmet, gloves, boots, and pads should fit correctly before any riding. Not after.
2. Set the throttle limiter. Every beginner gas mini bike has one. Use it. Start slow and build confidence over weeks.
3. Check the chain tension and brake feel. A loose chain or soft brakes are the two most common causes of early maintenance issues.
