Just a mini Janka timeskip AU where Zanka and Riyo take on Enjin's role as Cleaners and take his influence with them as they become parents leaders of their own teams. Jabber leaves the Raiders and becomes more of a merc for hire. Zanka will occasionally call up Jabber for more intense missions that might need his "special" skill set.

I like to imagine Zanka's kids making theories of their weird relationship they have going on.

While deep sea diving in the web archive I stumbled upon some neat bits of Kingdom Hearts fandom history, like this— what may be the first ever “Riku is Gay” essay (in English).

The first snapshot of the page is from 26th November 2002, just after the international release of KH. Soriku really been out here since day 1…

The purple prose dates it a lot but I didn’t notice any blatant Kairi bashing, which is impressive. It’s interesting that Riku’s complicated feelings for Sora have been documented even as early as 2002, pointing to the same subtext fans discuss even 20 years later.

Fucking immaculate. Literally sends it out of the park. Too many times do I see people try to make it sound like Riku had a crush on Kairi and that's why he fought Sora, but no, it's all about being the cool kid for Sora. He'd do anything to stay as Sora's idol and "cool kid" figure, and if that means putting him down, saving Kairi, and stealing back the keyblade to make Sora dependent on him, he'll do it (or at least until the end of KH1 lol)

Tbh this is making me realize how much of a Yandere Riku kind of is. Like, had he continued on like this and grown up as a late teen I fear he'd do horrible things like isolating Sora and scaring off others to keep his attention 😅

And it's truly not Kairi's fault ofc, hell, the poor girl has been used like a puppet by several villans since she landed on the island. She doesn't mean to be the bait and the one "ruining" a relationship, she just wants to exist and live in their paradise. It would be nice to see her finally build a true friendship with Riku or others like Lea & Namine and for her to finally pick her own path.
