3d Printing (of guns) in this music video- was very surprised when it popped up. But this is (and will be) a valid concern as 3d Printing becomes more and more accessible .
A team of 3D-scanning experts are digitizing parts of a Tyrannosaurus skeleton at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C..
When they’re finished scanning the remnants, bone by bone, they’ll upload the graphics online. From there, anyone with a 3D printer and stable Internet connection can download and print her own replica.
Much has been written about Project Daniel but is this open-source, brand-sponsored model sustainable?
These 13 internationally renowned universities and colleges are investing heavily in 3D printing and additive manufacturing.

Foodini is a 3D printer for foodstuffs. Its Florida-based makers are hoping their time-saving device becomes as ubiquitous on kitchen countertops as the..
Can't say that I am too convinced by this idea. You have to blend the food before putting it into the Foodini and it has to be done to exactly the right consistency. While it states in the article that they are looking to food retailers to possibly do this onsite they also mention that keeping additives out of the Retailer made capsules will be a challenge, and if that isnt done in my opinion that will defeat the objective of the "healthy food" idea.
PALO ALTO, United States — When Patagonia was in search of an eco-conscious alternative to neoprene, it considered wool. But then the outdoor apparel company came across Yulex, an Arizona-based supplier of latex-free rubber. Though the start-up was primarily focused on the commodities market, it had the tools to develop wetsuits that rivalled the performance, insulation capacity, stretch and durability of those made with traditional neoprene, but were better for the environment. Over a four-year period, Patagonia shouldered the costs of product development and guided Yulex on the needs of its consumers. By the end of 2013, the unlikely pair … More
Norman Foster on How 3D Printing Will Transform Architecture
Last year, legendary architect Lord Norman Foster and his colleagues at the European Space Agency surprised EVERYONE with a plan to build a lunar base via 3D-printing local moon dust into a structure. Sure, that’s really awesome to do that on the moon, but what about on Earth and how 3D printing can change how we build cities? Gizmodo’s Adam Clark Estes got the chance to ask Foster that question…

3D printing technology has been around for two decades, but the price has come down in recent years and more people have been able to make use of it.
Though SOLS Systems has begun to make a name for itself in the business of 3-D-printed custom orthotics, the start-up has bigger ambitions.
