“I’m going to cry out of happiness. There are different kinds of food! Eat them with me.”
“Alright but be warned, I’ll punch you if try to steal some of these tarts.”
“Wow. The castle is so pretty when there’s such a wonderful event.”
“And so are you.”
“Aw will be in the corner if anybody needs me.” Jac comments from the corner of the room as he nurses his beer.
“Not a dancer?” Isobel questioned, raising her own glass to her lips.
“You look good tonight. Ready to get your boogie down, yes?”
“I don’t know if you could keep up.”
“I sink you might feel differently if you meet someone and fall in love, soulmate or no. Or have you so already, and zis is the problem?”
“I can’t see that ever happening. It’s easier to be alone.”
“Just don’t run off to places without telling me, because I’m sure your parents would hunt me down and murder me. And I mean literally.”
“Ah -- no parents for you to worry about anymore. But I’m sure my older brother would have something to say about it.”
Armani pretended not to notice the other as she was trying to unlock another room. She didn’t want to call her out on it, “Latvia,” she responded softly, still avoiding eye contact.
Isobel was grateful for the silence where most people would have pushed and her features softened. “You’re near my quarters. I’ll show you.” She waited for the redhead to fall into step beside her before continuing on. “I’m Isobel.”
“I’m right behind you on that one. The problem is, I don’t have a guardian yet to train me. That, and I’d still get all the help that I can get. Επιβίωση πάνω απ’όλα,” she muttered the last part mostly to herself.
“Well, I know a thing or two. I’m no guardian but I can train with you, if you’d like.”
“Well if you do not want to talk about it, I’ll completely understand.” It was until recently, Atticus learned that he wasn’t bound at all with his girlfriend. He was losing his hope and his patience for his own time.
Isobel paused for a few moments before letting out a breath, knowing she’d have to talk about it sometime. “My parents weren’t the best examples.”
“Oh, okay…”
“Is there something else I can help you with?”
“That would be much appreciated. Though I’m sure you can’t be that bad.”
“Don’t tempt me, Brandon.”
“Right? I mean, I’ve sealed my own fate then, no soulmates for me.”
“Join the club then. I think Tosh has cursed me to a lifetime of unhappiness.”
“I doubt he’s even alive. Maybe I’ve killed him while I worked for your army before.”
“I’m not going to lie to you, that would be kind of awesome.”
“I’ve been around royals for a long time already. You’d be surprised how much I can take.”
“I’m going to try not to take that as a challenge, for both our sakes.”
“Is he your supposed soulmate? Or just an advisor you’re avoiding?”
“An advisor, luckily. I don’t think my soulmate is ever coming. Have you found yours?”
Though for Atticus, he really believed in it. He just kept saying that he don’t. But deep down, he really wanted for it to exist. “What made you not to believe in it?”
Isobel had believed in them once -- had held to the conviction that they existed for years. But for Isobel, the head always won over the heart, and she could see no empirical proof that love existed in such a pure way. “Does it matter?”
