Franny snickered, unsure of why all of this was particularly amusing to her. “I’ve got puta alright. But I’m not sure if it’s okay to bring it out in public.” Her vulgar mind can’t help but scream at her. Leave the poor boy alone. But instead, she smiled sweetly at the guardian.

THANE FROWNED AT the revelation and nodded, seemingly agreeing with him just to end this embarrassing encounter. “I had no sleep at all!” He groaned loudly. “There’s this ghost that kept following me around. I don’t even know how I got here.”

Mila pushed back a few inches from Thane to look him in the eye, her mouth falling open in shock. “You’re not a…fire thingy?” She hadn’t even given it a thought before. The look on his face confirmed it, and she clumsily disentangled herself from the man, landing on the ground next to him. She was lost in thought for a while before she realized the gravity of what she’d done, quickly sobering up. “Voi luoja.” Mila buried her face in her hands — she was completely mortified. She lowered her hands just enough to steal a glance at him. “I’m so sorry,” she said, voice muffled by her hands. Mila was disappointed, maybe even a little heartbroken, but more than that, she felt like she had risked their friendship. Blinking rapidly, she tried to hold back the tears that stung her eyes. She was not a fucking cry baby. “Um,” she started shakily, “can we just forget that happened?”

THANE MADE A face that’s a bit disappointment not only to Mila but to him as well. His childhood friend was a wonderful person and he’d be incredibly lucky to have her as his soulmate. “No... I’m a wind thingy...” He frowned slightly, avoiding the look on her face. He didn’t want her to feel more embarrassed just by looking at her for a very long time, expecting her to leave. What happened was awkward but he’d be willing to forget all about it if it means to get themselves back to normal. “No, don’t be sorry, Mila. You’re drunk and you’re not a wind thingy.” He shushed as he patted her back. “It’s not your fault. And if it makes you feel better, we can forget it ever happened. Let’s just say you missed me so much so you tried to tackle hug me but failed.” He said, forcing a reassuring smile on his lips.

AS MUCH AS Thane preffered wiping his drool with his sleeve, he took the tissue from him and wiped the drool off his face. He realized how gross it was. “I’m disgusting.” He admitted with a nod.

Thane seemed to have given up on them, but Mila wasn’t ready to let it go. She’d let the idea of them sink in, that she could be bound to her childhood friend – not some stranger with whom she felt no connection. Her feelings for Thane weren’t exactly romantic, but she could say that she loved him. If he was her soulmate, she could be with him, happily. “But it still could, right?” she asked hopefully. “If we give it a spark…” Her voice trailed off as she reflected on the thought – as well as she could with her mind foggy from alcohol. Holding onto his shoulders for support, Mila stood up on her knees and swung a leg over Thane’s, lowering herself onto his lap. Her arms wrapped themselves around his neck as she leaned in to rest her forehead against his, their noses bumping together gently, wordlessly asking him to kiss her and make the rest of the world go away.

Even though he knew her for a very long time, Thane could say that he only loved her as a friend. Nothing more than that. This could probably be the alcohol’s work to her. “I don’t know...” He said truthfully. Sadness was visible on his tone. Mila’s next actions though panicked him. He wasn’t ready for any of this. But somehow, he found his arms circled around her waist. His brown hues focused on her blue pairs as their foreheads pressed together. He wanted to kiss her so badly, but something wasn’t right. “It would only work if we’re of the same element, Mila. Let’s not force fate.”
