Libra - Beast of Consequences

Libra, the scales of justice. Starting September 23rd ending on October 22nd and ruled by Venus, like Taurus. Libra to me has always been a harder sign, there’s a complexity to them. The weight of justice on the shoulders of one mind with the wistfulness of peacemaking added from Venus ruler ship. A melancholy beauty to them, people pleasers but once a line is crossed-woof… They’re like the princess and the knight mixed into one. The tarot card associated with Libra is of course-Justice and I wanted to represent that specifically in the piece. Justice is not just the scales, it’s the sword. It’s consequences. So lady Libra is holding a sword firmly in front of her with her head down to represent the depictions of justice being blind. The only thing with their eyes open are the wolves. Wolves are group oriented, social and emotionally in tune with their packs which I think fits Libra well. The wolves are aggressive in the piece to show how hungry and ravenous the people are for not only justice but punishment. And Libra is there to hold them back. This was a very fun piece to do and I’ll expand even more on it on my blog through Artemisia alongside this pieces print options.

Virgo - Insight Incarnate

Oh Virgo, one of my favorite signs and my rising sign! Virgos are observant, exacting and sometimes critical. An earth sign starting August 23rd and ending September 22nd. To me, Virgos have always been an interesting bunch. An earth sign but also represented by the virgin or an angel. They represent a guiding light in the darkness to me, similar to their associated Tarot card The Hermit. They offer clarity rooted in practicality. Their advice and guidance is often a healing hand to others. I paired the Virgo with ravens since they are also quite intelligent but a little more private than the familiar crow. They can be cutting when they want to be, especially if you’ve gotten yourself into cycles of repeated mistakes. All in all, I think virgos hold the world together and keep us from losing our collective minds haha! I’ll expand more on them on my blog through Artemisia alongside their sticker, canvas and paper prints.

Leo - Passion’s Light

Oh Leo, the bright spark of light, warming all of us in your summer rays.☀️ Leo is the 5th sign of the zodiac after our lovely water bound Cancer staring on July 23rd and ending on August 22. They are ruled by the sun and it shows. Often Leo’s draw attention effortlessly, always radiating with passion, creativity and warmth. It’s stunning and I decorated our lovely lions here with Marigolds. I debated adding their main floral symbol the Sunflower but I felt Marigolds fit the piece much more and they’re my favorite hehe✨💛 Once again I’ll be expanding on each of the signs with a poem and a short interpretation on my site Artemisia! Cancer - Cradle of Life

Meet Cancer! The 4th sign of the Zodiac starting on June 21st and ending on July 22nd. Ruled by the moon Cancer's are emotional, nurturing, intuitive and empathetic. They're represented by the crab, a creature between worlds. Land and sea. They thrive in the cradle of life, where nature runs wild with the currents of the ocean. Gemini - The Shattered Mind

Oh my gosh Gemini threw me for a loop!!! I kept restarting over and over again, couldn’t decide and the design didn’t feel right until this one(how very Gemini lol)🫠. Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, the twins with one body. Adaptable, witty and ever-changing. They start on May 21st and end on June 20th. Gemini to me is bright and quick on their feet, chatty and ever curious about the world. It’s an extremely mentally charged sign being ruled by Mercury. Mercury represents communication and mental energy. I have always associated magpies with Geminis. They are just as curious, intelligent and chatty. I love to hear them on my walks along the river and I love to see their stark black and white feathers cross my vision. Taurus - Nature’s Keeper

The powerful second sign of the zodiac! Taurus! A stoic, stalwart bull with all the fertility of spring. I decorated this big boy in the flowers associated with the sign: poppies, lily of the valley, and violets. I also added seven birds to the piece to represent the Seven Sisters constellation that resides in Taurus’s constellation. The six perched upon his horns are Brown Headed Cow Birds and the one at his feet is a Cattle Egret! Taurus is ruled by Venus, planet of luxury and love and starts on April 20th till May 20th. They are guardians, wielding strength with grace and beauty. To me they often feel like sanctuary. There’s a cozy warmth to them, a sheltering from the harshness of the world. Once again I’ll probably expand more on Taurus once I post on my blog through Artemisia! Aries - Child of War

The start of a very fun series and also my sun sign! Aries!❤️‍🔥 Aries is ruled by Mars and is the first of the Zodiac starting on March 21st and ending on April 19th. They are often associated with passion, aggression, pioneering and wonder. I included a lamb to signify the beginning of the Zodiac. There’s an innocence, a childlike wonder and curiosity in Aries and a fierce urge to protect it. They are the children of war, a constant juxtaposition but nonetheless powerful! I will share more of my thoughts on each sign as I post them and I’m considering writing a blog post for each on Artemisia! So if you’re interested in seeing that keep an eye out for it on my site! Burn. Recently kinda had an emotional moment, sad and angry. So this piece came out of that! I have always loved tigers, I think it some ways they represent who I would like to be most. Powerful and stalwart, calm and precise. This piece to me is a bit of a juxtaposition, my emotional release paired with a symbol of strength.

Eclipse

Actually finished this piece on an eclipse haha! Very fun. Was definitely a wolf kid when I was younger, and a horse kid, and a dragon and dinosaur kid lol. Wolves will always have a special little place in my heart. They’re wonderful creatures and deeply misunderstood in a lot of ways.

Crimson Omens

Always loved ravens, my grandma who is also an artist used to have a piece with three ravens, it was one of my absolute favorites. I believe it was based on the actual song Three Ravens. There was a version done by Peter, Paul and Mary I believe which I grew up singing and playing with my family. It’s a haunting tune. So this piece pays respect to that and my own family’s history with ravens.

Be What I Have to Be

Fawns, they’ve always been a very personal representation for me. I’ve always had one “follow” me in my creative process, dreams, subconscious. They represent my anxiety, something I’ve struggled with for so long and something that has prevented me from holding down a regular job with panic attacks. I love them so much, I want to protect them cause I know it’s not their fault for being so scared.
