#nsfw text
i realize im swinging a bat at a hornets nest here so this is a kinnie blog exclusive but like.
im thinking its less nsfw content of underage characters thats the problem and more, the way fandom & internet culture in general works. like... actually, its probably normal for middle schoolers to fantasize about middle schoolers. it isnt bad, or wrong, or creepy if theyre making nsfw jokes/drawings/hcs about characters their age - i know me and my friends were making the same kind of jokes in school irl at that age. its fine and normal
the actual problem is the dissonance between whats private and public, and general inappropriate behavior in fandom. kids put a ton of private and identifying info on their socials and other publicly accessible spaces without fully grasping how just, literally anyone could see and misuse that, and theres a lack of boundaries when it comes to handling nsfw in fandom, especially in terms of older peoples interactions with younger people.
so what happens is that, often pretty young teenagers, end up unwittingly contributing to a cp problem by sharing content (even jokes) in public spaces, where theyre encouraged by older people in fandom, who feel this is normal and fine. in the end it harms both themself and others.
it doesnt mean the problem was that they made nsfw content of underage characters, though - if they do that in private, and closed spaces, with their peers, thats fine. is probably better in dms with your classmates than me vandalizing the school bathrooms with boobies
im not really one to talk, bc ive been moderating online spaces since i was like 11 (the shameful truth come out) but i really do think young teenagers arent suited for moderation
its not that theyre bad at it or anything (if anything... most of the teenage moderators ive seen around know a lot better how to be professional and considerate to their users than some adults, and most teenagers have much better ideas abt how to keep their community safe wrt content rules etc)
but i don’t think it’s safe or appropriate for say, a 16 year old having to engage a volatile mid-20s adult who is posting inappropriate things in their servers vent channel, or being exposed to the behind-the-scenes of peoples messy relationship backstories and trauma that comes up when someone requests their ex to be banned, etc etc. there’s so many things that can come up during moderation that just.. emotionally arent good for a young teenager to be exposed to, and its one thing if they are, and another if it’s actually their job that they cannot really choose to disengage with because your average 16 year old has a stronger sense of responsibility than any adult and also doesn’t know how and when to say no
absolutely to brag but my friends tell me a lot that i run my (discord) servers so well that it’s spoiled them and leaves them unprepared for how poorly run a lot of other servers are
and its true i do run my servers really well! it definitely helps a ton that i don’t typically attract weirdos in my spaces and everyone in my servers is just, normal, nice people, who arent 40 year old men who want to fight me over discords own tos being censorship for banning certain types of porn because i’ve tried and tested that i could definitely not manage that kind of crowd (lmao) (not actually lmao)
i think another factor is that its less that my servers are run exceptionally well but that a lot of servers are really poorly moderated. i dont even mean this as a dunk, its just that moderator is essentially work! its a position that requires job skills like, engaging w people professionally, preventing/handling conflicts, etc... stuff that you’d normally get a training in for a job so you actually know how to do it (and even THEN it just varies per person how good someone is at that type of work)....... but meanwhile discord moderator is a position just about anyone including actual 14 year olds and people with 0 experience can pick up. and not only that, nobody gets paid (w very few exceptions), and the working conditions arent monitored like a real job. you’re “at work” as a moderator every second you spend in a server youre responsible for, with no time off the clock. i do like it a lot, but it’s not necessarily easy work and it makes sense why a lot of the time its such a mess
i think at this point in time id really want to be spending more time with people irl than online - i want my social circles to expand a little bit more, its just not really, the time for that!
a little bit before the quarantine id gotten tinder, put like 9 hot pics of myself on there and collected some local girls/nbs phone numbers so id have people within impact to unleash the full extent of my extrovercy on. since then ive grown a goatee though (unfortunate) (id have to take new hot pics of myself if i wanna try that one again after quarantine)
unsurprisingly i didnt keep in touch with most of the people i tinder’d but i did get two lasting contacts out of it, one of which is a cute girl who lets me come over to her house to cook her hamburger and help her clean the bathroom floor so it was all a worthwhile effort. going from 0 girls to cook for to 1 girls is a pretty significant difference
i don’t really use social media as much anymore - i really just come online, post dump art, and leave, recently ive been reading twitter n tumblr more just to keep up a bit w current events but even then i don’t really engage
i run an art server on discord and do pretty much all my social chit chat there

actually i figured out my thoughts wrt art/fandom content on this blog now
i think its like... i forget but this is or at least started off as an actual kin blog (even if im not sure ive ever been super into the kinnie stuff? or ever as much as others i knew?) and its just that a lot of artists dont like their art being tagged as kin/similar or there was a period where that was a strong sentiment. probably both bc either artists were kinnies themself and felt possessive over their kin stuff, or artists werent kinnies and they were rightfully a little weirded out by the kinnie community (sorry guys you are weird)
so in an effort not to reblog art especially of peoples ocs or their own kin stuff or whatever i just ended up not reblogging much art on here at all. theres some art on here of characters i actually kin(ned) or just characters i liked and gave their own tag, but i dont think i ever actively went out of my way to seek those out either so its just kind of like... what it is
i think not having weird interactions on the internet is 99% just Not Having interactions in the first place... theres so much cultural norm around everything that varies wildly per niche that the easiest way to not be a weirdo about things is really to just leave things alone every once in a while. its not a perfect strategy but i really also do not need to be reblogging literally anything i dont want to on a kinnie blog anyway. i do want to give people more feedback and traction on their artwork, but i feel theres better ways for me to do that than to reblog to this blog specifically
since i don’t really use tumblr anymore other than to post art once in a blue moon (or whenever someone asks me to post it so they can share it, more like) ive been linking to artists post in my art server so the people there can see/share them and i think that makes for more pleasant interaction than the kinnie blog with maybe like 5 followers that still use tumblr at this point
.... :3 hehe
