I’ve noticed some confusion about my publication schedule, which makes total sense, since it’s pretty complicated right now! Here’s a bit of description to clarify the projects I have going on and when they will be coming out.
Ghosts of the Shadow Market
This is a series of short stories that focus on Jem/Brother Zachariah. They will be published serially as ebooks, with one story coming out each month between April-November 2018. Like The Bane Chronicles and Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, these short stories are collaborations between me and a talented group of writers, in this case Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Robin Wasserman, and Kelly Link!
(All of the Ghost of the Shadow Market stories will be collected in a print edition along with two bonus stories, likely coming out in the summer of 2019.)
The stories:
April 2018: Son of the Dawn, with Sarah Rees Brennan. Set in 2000. Jace meets the Lightwoods for the first time!
May 2018: Cast Long Shadows, with Sarah Rees Brennan. Set in 1901. A visit to the Shadow Market changes Matthew Fairchild’s life forever.
June 2018: Every Exquisite Thing, with Maureen Johnson. Set in the early 1900s. The story of Anna Lightwood’s first love!
July 2018: Learn about Loss, with Kelly Link. Set in the 1930s. Brother Zachariah visits a dark carnival and dabbles in demon-summoning.
August 2018: A Deeper Love, with Maureen Johnson. Set in the 1940s. Tessa Gray and Catarina Loss pose as nurses in order to aid suffering mundane humans during WW2.
September 2018: The Wicked Ones, with Robin Wasserman. Set in 1989/90. Celine Montclaire encounters Valentine Morgenstern for the first time.
October 2018: The Land I Lost, with Sarah Rees Brennan. Set in 2012. Alec Lightwood and Lily Chen go to Buenos Aires to help rebuild in the wake of the Dark War, and Alec meets an orphaned Shadowhunter child.
November 2018: Through Blood, Through Fire, with Robin Wasserman. Set in 2012. A dark threat is looming over a child of the Shadow Market, and Jem Carstairs and Tessa Gray may be the only ones who can save him.
Upcoming books:
The Golden Tower (Magisterium 5)
September 11, 2018
This is it! The final book in the series! Callum Hunt’s destiny is sealed.
Queen of Air and Darkness (The Dark Artifices 3)
December 4, 2018
The last book of the trilogy sets in motion events that will change the Shadow World forever.
The Red Scrolls of Magic (The Eldest Curses 1, with Wesley Chu)
March 2019
Magnus and Alec planned to go on a nice peaceful vacation after the Dark War. They weren’t planning on encountering stolen memories, dark secrets, vicious demons, and murderous cultists. Suddenly their European tour looks a lot more like work, but both are still determined to enjoy it!
Ghosts of the Shadow Market print edition
No exact date yet, probably Summer 2019
Chain of Gold (The Last Hours 1)
No exact date yet, likely sometime between September-November 2019
This is the beginning of a new Shadowhunter trilogy set during the Edwardian Era! The children of Tessa, Will, and the other characters from the Infernal Devices have grown up in a far less frightening world than their parents did. But trouble is brewing amid their boating parties and balls. Revenge, prejudice, and obsession lie hidden beneath the surface of their world, and a mysterious illness has begun to strike Shadowhunters down…
The Lost Book of the White (The Eldest Curses 2)
Likely March 2020
Magnus and Alec thought the adventures of their far-too-eventful vacation were long past. But old friends and old enemies linger, and the story continues…
Chain of Iron (The Last Hours 2)
Once again, likely to come out in Fall (September-November) 2020
The story of James, Lucie, Cordelia and their friends continues.
2021: After this everything gets a little fuzzy. Publications aren’t scheduled this far out, but we’ve still got The Last Hours 3, The Eldest Curses 3, and Sword Catcher on the horizon! (Not to mention Wicked Powers!)
It’s 2018!!!! Last year I read 20 books, so in honor of 2017 I picked my favorite reads out of this 20 books. Hope you’ll meet your next read.
1. The Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Goodreads summary: Growing up, Mallory Dodge learned that the best way to survive was to say nothing. And even though it's been four years since her nightmare ended, she's beginning to worry that the fear that holds her back will last a lifetime. Now, after years of homeschooling, Mallory must face a new milestone—spending her senior year at a public high school. But she never imagined she'd run into Rider Stark, the friend and protector she hasn't seen since childhood, on her very first day.
It doesn't take long for Mallory to realize that the connection she shared with Rider never really faded. Yet soon it becomes apparent that she's not the only one grappling with lingering scars from the past. And as she watches Rider's life spiral out of control, Mallory must make a choice between staying silent and speaking out—for the people she loves, the life she wants and the truths that need to be heard.
This book was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. It made me cry, laugh, jump. As the characters grow you grow with them. It’s so beautiful how Armentrout lets you connect with the characters so well. Their pain was my pain, and their now was my joy. This book will forever be in my heart and is just one of those books which you wouldn’t mind to reread over and over again.
2.Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare
Goodreads summary: In a kingdom by the sea…
In a secret world where half-angel warriors are sworn to fight demons, parabatai is a sacred word.
A parabatai is your partner in battle. A parabatai is your best friend. Parabatai can be everything to each other—but they can never fall in love.
Emma Carstairs is a warrior, a Shadowhunter, and the best in her generation. She lives for battle. Shoulder to shoulder with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, she patrols the streets of Los Angeles, where vampires party on the Sunset Strip, and faeries—the most powerful of supernatural creatures—teeter on the edge of open war with Shadowhunters. When the bodies of humans and faeries turn up murdered in the same way Emma’s parents were when she was a child, an uneasy alliance is formed. This is Emma’s chance for revenge—and Julian’s chance to get back his brother Mark, who is being held prisoner by the faerie Courts. All Emma, Mark, and Julian have to do is solve the murders within two weeks…and before the murderer targets them.
Their search takes Emma from sea caves full of sorcery to a dark lottery where death is dispensed. And each clue she unravels uncovers more secrets. What has Julian been hiding from her all these years? Why does Shadowhunter Law forbid parabatai to fall in love? Who really killed her parents—and can she bear to know the truth?
Shadowhunters!!!!!! Obviously at least one of the new books couldn’t stay out of this list. I was at first worried to start a new series after finishing TMI. I was so connected to the TMI characters that it was hard to imagine they would not be the main characters anymore and that we only would know glimpses of their life. However, I couldn’t bear to not submerge myself in the shadow world any longer. I’m so happy I did. I fell in love again with all these new characters, and there was more of the old characters in this book than I had imagined. Bravo, Clare, bravo. I can’t wait to read Lord of Shadows.
3. Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld
Goodreads summary: Darcy Patel is afraid to believe all the hype. But it's really happening - her teen novel is getting published. Instead of heading to college, she's living in New York City, where she's welcomed into the dazzling world of YA publishing. That means book tours, parties with her favorite authors, and finding a place to live that won't leave her penniless. It means sleepless nights rewriting her first draft and struggling to find the perfect ending... all while dealing with the intoxicating, terrifying experience of falling in love - with another writer.
Told in alternating chapters is Darcy's novel, the thrilling story of Lizzie, who wills her way into the afterworld to survive a deadly terrorist attack. With survival comes the responsibility to guide the restless spirits that walk our world, including one ghost with whom she shares a surprising personal connection. But Lizzie's not alone in her new calling - she has counsel from a fellow spirit guide, a very desirable one, who is torn between wanting Lizzie and warning her that...
I feel every aspiring writer should read this book. I loved the perspective of having the two stories in the book. Seeing Darcy doubts and struggles as a young writer, and how she grows and becomes more herself and that reflects on her writing. Then we have Lizzie’s world which is full of mystery, and death. The only thing I’m crossing my finger for is a sequel.
4. Happily Ever After by Kiera Cass
Summary: Meet Prince Maxon before he fell in love with America and a girl named Amberly before she became queen. See the Selection through the eyes of a guard who watched his first love drift away and a girl who fell for a boy who wasn’t the prince. This gorgeous collection features four novellas from the captivating world of Kiera Cass’s #1 New York Times bestselling Selection series
It’s been a while since reading a book of the Selection Series, and how I missed it. How interesting to read the background of some of the most loved characters. I just wished I could forget this series so I can read it over again and feel like it is the first time.
5. Beware That Girl by Teresa Toten
Goodreads summary: This powerful psychological thriller with multiple mysteries is set against the backdrop of the megawealthy elite of New York City. Toten delves into the mesmerizing yet dysfunctional world of those who manipulate but seem ever so charming. With its gripping pace and Hitchcockian twists, Beware That Girl will keep readers guessing until the very last line.
The Haves. The Have-Nots. Kate O’Brian appears to be a Have-Not. Her whole life has been a series of setbacks she’s had to snake her way out of—some more sinister than others. But she’s determined to change that. She’s book smart. She’s street-smart. Oh, and she’s also a masterful liar.
As the scholarship student at the Waverly School in NYC, Kate has her work cut out for her: her plan is to climb the social ladder and land a spot at Yale. She’s already found her “people” among the senior class “it” girls—specifically in the cosseted, mega-wealthy yet deeply damaged Olivia Sumner. As for Olivia, she considers Kate the best friend she’s always needed, the sister she never had.
When the handsome and whip-smart Mark Redkin joins the Waverly administration, he immediately charms his way into the faculty’s and students’ lives—becoming especially close to Olivia, a fact she’s intent on keeping to herself. It becomes increasingly obvious that Redkin poses a threat to Kate, too, in a way she can’t reveal—and can’t afford to ignore. How close can Kate and Olivia get to Mark without having to share their dark pasts?
Wow, just wow. This book is filled with surprises. In various occasions I literally jumped out of my bed from the “What the hell” reaction. It was just wonderful, it had the right amount of plot twists. The ending was so much better, I didn’t see it coming. I literally recommend it for anyone who likes mystery, plot twists, twisted stories.
6. The Princess Saves Herself In This One by Amanda Lovelace
Goodreads summary: "Ah, life- the thing that happens to us while we're off somewhere else blowing on dandelions & wishing ourselves into the pages of our favorite fairy tales."
A poetry collection divided into four different parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, & you. the princess, the damsel, & the queen piece together the life of the author in three stages, while you serves as a note to the reader & all of humankind. Explores life & all of its love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, & inspirations.
A lot of people don’t like this type of books because they don’t consider it poetry. However, it’s up to people’s taste. I liked it, it made me cry in some of the entries, and it motivate me in others. I feel that if you’re open enough and willing to try you can give it a chance.
I hope you find your next read in here. Enjoy!!!!!!!!
Goodreads Summary: With this stunning debut novel, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver emerged as one of today's foremost authors of young adult fiction. Like Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why and Gayle Forman's If I Stay, Before I Fall raises thought-provoking questions about love, death, and how one person's life can affect so many others.
For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—"Cupid Day"—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.
However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.
I’m going to be honest, this book left me with a sour/sweet taste, it’s sweet because it is such a good message and ending, but sour because the pacing is so slow and it took me some will power to finish it. I’ve read so many books that made me cry tsunamies out of my eyes, but this one is not one of them, maybe it is for you but for me it wasn’t. I just couldn’t connect that much with this bitchy characters. I’ve never hated so much a leading character as Samantha Kingston and her friends like this book. However, she did grew so much as a person at the end, with every day, but I didn’t feel that much empathy when she saved Juliet, I mean I felt bad because of Kent, but not as much to make me cry. It was sad and tragic whereas I just shrugged my shoulders and thanked Oliver for the lessons, and closed the book. Don’t be confused I did like the book enough to rate it 4/5 but not enough to rate it 5/5.
Things I liked about the book: The relationship between Samantha and Izzy. Day 4, when Sam becomes all bitchy towards Lindsay, and also a rebel. Day 5, when she pass all her day with her family and also when she discovers the truth of the night of the accident and the truth about Juliet Sykes. All the romantic moments between Kent and Sam. The ending was beautiful and tragic. It is a good story with a good lesson for people who likes to think deep about life. It lets you reflect.
Things I didn’t liked about the book: Obviously I hated the main characters,i can’t deal with too much bitchy, even though Sam changed and we see some of the flaws of the other characters, but I didn’t feel they were so much of best friends if they didn’t talk about the hard things, the talks that matters rather than the dumb stuff, the ones you’ll forget when you grow. Another thing I didn’t like is the slow pacing, I was dreading to finally finish the book. It truly became more interesting till the middle of the book however, I still wanted to get over it. The constant reliving of the same day was being too repetitive, with kind of the same lesson.
General Opinion: Give it a chance but be aware that is a slow pace book. It has a great lesson and meaning of life. If you’re the type of person that likes to read meaningful books, and high school cliche than I recommend it for you. However, I feel this book is worth to give a chance.
Hi! I'm going to start by saying I'm sorry for letting some of you down. When I started posting on Tumblr it was because I wanted to try doing something new, something I could had fun with. However, I have to admit I wasn't ready for the responsibility that starting a blog comes with, I would forget to post or just get too busy.
After so many years, and developing as a more mature person I decided that I'm ready. I want/dread to write about books, and other stuff I love. Sharing with others my opinios, my interests, and stories. I will not let you down, and will keep posting on a schedule that's reasonable (especially during exams). It would be much boarder, I will post book related things, my art works, movies reviews as well as tv shows reviews and many more.
I'm still working on the website so you'll see some changes here and then. For now I'll only be writing on my blog, I prefer to manage this and maybe after, start booktubing. Just Maybe.
Goodreads Summary: Will Grayson meets Will Grayson. One cold night, in a most unlikely corner of Chicago, two strangers are about to cross paths. From that moment on, their world will collide and lives intertwine.
It's not that far from Evanston to Naperville, but Chicago suburbanites Will Grayson and Will Grayson might as well live on different planets. When fate delivers them both to the same surprising crossroads, the Will Graysons find their lives overlapping and hurtling in new and unexpected directions. With a push from friends new and old - including the massive, and massively fabulous, Tiny Cooper, offensive lineman and musical theater auteur extraordinaire - Will and Will begin building toward respective romantic turns-of-heart and the epic production of history's most awesome high school musical.
This Book, it’s just perfection. It has the perfect amount of everything. I read almost all of the books by John Green (minus Let It Snow), and I could tell you that this one became my favorite after I read it. Why? Because of one simple reason, It’s the first book of him that left me satisfied, happy and accept the ending of the book. I mean with the Fault in Our Stars August died, which practically left us with a broken heart. With Looking for Alaska, Alaska died, and we will actually never certainly know if it was a suicide. An abundance of Katherines left me with an empty feeling, and Paper Towns, even though it is not one of my favorites, it left me not quite satisfied, because deep inside I hoped that Margo and Quentin will end up together. So when I read Will Grayson, Will Grayson I thought that it will leave me with the same kind of feeling. I was preparing myself to cry honestly. But when the end came and there was no crying, I was so happy, because the end was not what I really expected. It was quite satisfying and it left me with the feeling that I wanted to know more about not per se the main character but more about Tiny Cooper, I want to actually watch or read the musical of Tiny Cooper because he’s fantastic. So hopefully I will buy the books that David Levithan wrote about the musical pretty soon. I always dreamed of that they will write a spin-off of Tiny Cooper ‘s life since I finished Will Grayson, Will Grayson. I recommend this book if you're having a Book Hangover, Believe me, and we'll just leave you happy.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children Trailer
Okay so It’s happening guys this amazing book (that I haven’t read yet but I’m going to in the summer, I promise) it’s getting a MOVIE. Now the only thing to do is decide whether to read the book first or see the movie first.
So I’m gonna start by explaining a little bit of the book for the people that didn’t read it.
It’s about a guy who's named Ryden, and he becomes a 17-teen-year-old single dad when her girlfriend dies from cancer. He thinks that it is his fault that Meg died because he knew that she had cancer and he had sex with her without condom either way. If dealing constantly with the guilt wasn’t enough, he has to take care of Hope (his daughter) now and be constantly remind of Meg because of Hope’s features. Also, he’s been working his ass to get into UCLA college to become a pro in soccer, he’s not giving up on that dream. But with school and the new job (baby’s stuff are expensive), taking care of Hope when his mom works, soccer practice seems difficult to keep up with.
Also, the diaries that Meg left behind, he’s convinced that she left one for him with some tips on how to become a good dad, but to find out what they have inside he needs to find them first. He has zero friends until he meets Joni, a girl from work. She makes him feel like the old Ryden who’s life wasn’t shit. Joni doesn’t know anything about Hope or Meg. Will she find out? Will he finally find the diaries? Will he discover secrets that Meg left behind? Will he be able to become a good dad to Hope?
I highly recommend you to read the book. I loved the idea of the book, it's the first time I read about single dads and in such young age. I liked to submerge in this book and see the struggles that some dads have to deal with as some single moms nowadays.
Now don’t keep reading if you didn’t read the book. IT CONTAINS SPOILERS. YOU MIGHT OPEN IT AT YOUR OWN RISK
Okay now let’s start with why I gave this book a 4/5. It’s simple I felt that in the middle of the book Joni and Ryden relationship just rushed, it was as if the writer needed to put them together before the book ended which in my personal opinion it wasn’t necessary. It could have ended with a promise as in they will be together in the future but not that quick.
Can we talk about the part when we find out that Meg planned to have Hope? Poor Ryden tho, he was in really good spirits and kind of getting over Meg but then BAM! hey, guess what I made you a father on purpose. Eventhought I get Meg’s point but she should have thought about what would happen to Ryden too. But still everything happens for a reason.
Now let’s talk about Joni. Well, sure she knows how to make first impressions. In my head, she’s like this rebel, badass girl which is cool. And I love how mature she acted in the last chapters. She’s approved, also who else wants to visit her room?
In conclusion, the book was really good with some problems, obviously, nothing is perfect, but the story that tells is stronger than the mistakes so go and read it.
