Anyone interested in the visuals of the polyhedron should look into Mo Kelman. Her work explicitly deals with the conflict between manmade structures and nature, and they’re a genuine sight to behold!

"Sewing is a gateway drug to thinking through complex problems. It seems really simple; culturally, we make it women's work. Let me tell you: real sewing at any kind of level of proficiency is a bloody magic trick. Sewing, like mold making, involves mental frames that require one to think inside out and backwards. It requires one to work on an order of operations that is often taking into account the reverse. It's a really, really important skill, and if you learn how to sew, you're mostly on your way to carpentry and welding and sheet metal work. I'm not kidding: these are planar forms meeting under rules and conditions. And if you can make a sleeve work, I swear to God, you could build a house."
--Adam Savage
He goes on to explain more about the process and required knowledge (for the mechanics, of skill, of fabric, etc) and how the sewing machine is an amazing thing that if you go in without respect will ruin your day. And he is correct.

Still think one of the THE moments in Pathologic classic…tried to imagine the look on their faces during that moment…
me, every single time i see people (especially women) talking about the divine feminine energy, or the sacredness of the womb or whatever it is now:
[image description: a two-panel photo of a person dialling a number and then placing the phone to their ear. the contact is saved as ‘Ursula K. Le Guin’ /end ID]
context is this quote by her:
But I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?
I’m pro-pain killer but this website is so dang obsessed with ibuprofen it’s like it’s their only girlie and unfortunately I am allergic and wouldn’t want to mislead my followers about that. hashtag diversify my comrades
maybe we can all start to sing the praises of the entire nsaid category of drug. for me 🥺 for including me and my painkillers 🥺
okay so some of the notes on this post has made me concerned for some of you. as a fellow chronic pain haver:
you should not be having ibuprofen every day. especially not multiple. and especially not on an empty stomach
please do not mix multiple nsaids without clearing it with a doctor first
you do not want stomach ulcers
I know doctors are shit but please get it checked out if you are in that much pain every single day
at minimum try to diversify which over the counter pain meds you’re taking to decrease the likelihood of side effects
okay have a good one
It feels like this is the biggest story to still be flying relatively under the radar in the anglophone press. If a single phonecall from a racist pig American can get hundreds of your senior engineers and their families, who are only there to oversee factory construction up to spec, rounded up and sent to the Gestapo torture dungeons then suddenly it's an open question if any Korean, Japanese (and indeed eventually potentially even European) firm will ever feel safe directly investing in the US ever again

This also includes a VPN ban, and the punishment for making any of the content named in the bill accessible to a resident of the state is $100,000 and 10-20 years in prison.
This is a blatant violation of the first amendment. Like. Horrendously so.
Here's a link to the bill itself for anyone who wants to read it. It's fairly short
