you can get from berlin to this small norwegian village 300 km from the arctic circle in one reasonable day’s travel, although it’s a lot. connect through frankfurt, munich, or copenhagen, then connect again at tromsø, bodo, or narvik. the museum website says there’s a direct flight from oslo, but i don’t see it, and anyway it’d only help if there’s a direct flight from berlin to oslo (although the capital of germany, we are sadly not a hub, and even current best go-to ryanair is pulling back)
it’s very appealing to stop at the most proximate connection point for a couple of nights. i’m so interested in the whole arctic, it’s just weirdly hard to figure out how to come at it. i get the most seductive fb ads for disko bay cruises and same problem: how tf do you actually set up a coherent itinerary around any of this?
andenes itself is tiny. walk from airport to museum, sea, village. the surrounding area looks amazing. just like: how? particularly for a non-driver. i’d joyfully backpack among whatever mix of lodgings on buses and ferries, so nu, is that type of traveling feasible and what are the best routes if so?
museum website talks about admission packages either with a hotel night or with a whale cruise, but not both. there are no broader regional offerings. missing a massive fucking opportunity here
look. your museum takes 90-120 minutes to visit, or let’s call it half a day for the architecture freaks. add an afternoon whale cruise, it’s one (1) full day. you are located in the literal middle of nowhere. i am begging you: find a travel partner and offer 2-3 regional packages that A. enable folks to even envision spending enough time out there to be worth the schlep and B. provide easy options
actual museum tickets not on sale till autumn 2026 (not further specified) and nothing about opening festivities yet. there is a date, june 4, but tbh the general vagueness gives me the feeling it may shift

no crm web page capturing email addresses and promising an alert when the tickets go on sale! this is flat out criminal incompetence, in line with failure to secure a travel partner given the location. decent branding (obviously. top-tier architectural vision driving the whole thing, comes with the right temperament) but v poor engagement. and i get it. i, myself, loathe and suck at engagement. but you do actually need to execute. genuinely hope they pull it together enough not to fail on account of it
