As y'all know, 5sos were swarmed by fans today when arriving in Madrid, before I completely lose my shit, I linked some receipts (here & here).

I really dont understand what it is about basic fucking respect that is so difficult to understand. Y'all seem to forget that Luke, Michael, Calum, and Ashton ARE HUMAN BEINGS. They are 4 normal guys that happen to have an extremely abnormal job. The amount of people I’ve seen saying “Well, that is what they signed up for” is BULLSHIT.

THEY OWE YOU NOTHING. I dont care how long you have been a fan, I dont care how many times you’ve tried to meet them, I dont care that you “love them with your whole fucking heart” THEY. OWE. YOU. NOTHING. STOP ACTING LIKE ENTITLED FUCKING BRATS. They do NOT have to hug you. They do NOT have to shake your fucking hand. They do NOT have to stop for a picture with you. Can you honestly tell me that you are that fucking inept and blind to social cues, that you can watch them be VISIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE surrounded by fans and you’re STILL PRESSING FOR A PHOTO? I’m not sorry but if you think that is okay on any level, you do NOT love these boys.

Also, let’s not forget that Michael struggles with a fucking panic disorder. He has always been extremely candid about his anxiety and mental health. It is public knowledge in this fandom at this point. So how could ANYONE know that information and actively put him in a chaotic and potentially triggering situation???? This point alone has me borderline homicidal tbh.

ALSO. WHERE TF WAS THE SECURITY IN THIS AIRPORT??? You’re telling me, that NO ONE noticed a crowd forming before the boys plane landed? I need to speak to a manager bc SOMEBODY fucked up. NOT ONLY is a crowd like that a fucking fire hazard, but it’s dangerous for EVERYONE stuck in that crowd that could potentially be knocked down and trampled. It blows my mind that airport security allowed that situation to get so out of hand.

NO ONE deserves to be put in a position like 5sos were put in today (a position they’re unfortunately put in pretty commonly). Just because they “chose” to be in the public eye, does not mean they signed away their rights to be treated with common decency. They should not have to choose between doing what they love or being RESPECTED AS HUMAN BEINGS.

It is incredibly sad to me, that I feel the need to post a rant similar to this every few weeks. 5sos are too good to us, they deserve so much better. Do better.

I’ve been a wreck all day over this shit, it’s disgusting to me that people who claim to be their fans could act in such a way. Have some fucking common decency and back the fuck off. One of the things that comes along with the profession they have chosen is to be in the public eye but that does not make it okay for anyone to act like this around them. They are human and deserve respect just like everyone else.

And don’t even get me started on the whole Michael piece of this because I just can’t even handle to think about how he must have felt in this situation. I worry about all of them on a daily basis, more than I should I’m sure, and as much as you may think they are “used to this” and can “handle it”, it just brings it back to the fact that they SHOULDN’T BE because they SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS BULLSHIT FROM PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO LOVE AND CARE ABOUT THEM.

The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else.
