You guys honestly
The best part about grunge is the fact that it’s essentially saying “fuck you” to the system and doing whatever you want. If you want to have a grunge blog and only post cheeseburgers I’ll support it because that’s capturing the true spirit of the movement. DO. WHATEVER. YOU. WANT. Be who you want, wear what you want, you don’t owe anyone anything and you’re not responsible for conforming to their ideals. That’s their mess.
It's very clear that you're not entirely aware of what grunge really is. Why do you exploit the label but don't live up to its standards (or lack thereof)? For the record, I think you have impeccable taste in fashion - but it's not grungy. It's trendy. It's only fair that you recognize that. (Side Note: Grunge music is not exclusive to Nirvana. The way your blog is set up makes it seem like that's the only grunge band you listen to, and that's a little sad. Branch out, dude).
I'm not even going to expand on the fact that you, anon person, are essentially saying to stay within some arbitrary parameters of what you consider "grunge" but at the same time "branch out". Kind of contradictory. I will say, that the entire grunge aesthetic is by definition a dismantling of the conformist regime. Literally it is about freedom of any and all expression and not conforming to societal expectations. Lastly, this isn't a grunge music blog but I like to periodically pay homage to who is arguably considered the "king of grunge". I am aware that there were countless grunge bands that emerged and have continued to emerge but I have decided to leave that blog to someone else. Maybe you could start that one?
