Nice Try, Microsoft.
Facebook has reactions now!
We’ve been listening to people and know that there should be more ways to easily and quickly express how something you see in News Feed makes you feel. That’s why today we are launching Reactions, an extension of the Like button, to give you more ways to share your reaction to a post in a quick and easy way.
To add a reaction, hold down the Like button on mobile or hover over the Like button on desktop to see the reaction image options, then tap either Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad or Angry.

I’m trying to remember all the times Facebook changed something for seemingly no reason that ultimately made the site less enjoyable for users, but there are so many I’m actually drawing a blank. I remember that first step into the unknown when Facebook started letting anybody with an email address join – from your grandma who asks about the weather in the comments section to your friend’s little brother spamming the feed to hawk his mixtape.
But this is actually an improvement! Facebook did something useful? There are plenty of times when I want to “Like” something to show I read it, but “Like"ing a post about your friend’s dead cousin feels insensitive. Now I can "Sad” it instead!
This is tight and I already know my notifications finna be full of little “Angry” responses. Hopefully I’ll get a “Haha” or two, but y'all already know I’m mostly on the Internet when I’m mad so I'ma need y'all to be mad right with me.
