Years & Years | Don't Save Me (Haim cover)
BBC predicted Years & Years as 2015 Sound of the Year, which has in the past launched Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, Haim, and Adele.
I've been since obsessed with this cover they did at BBC Live Lounge.
Here are some awesome songs (they have really interesting music videos too): Desire, Real, Take Shelter.
Their next single 'King' comes out March 1st, 2015
Stromae | sommeil
I've been obsessed with this French song by Belgian artist Stromae.
Ben Howard | End of the Affair
Ben's beautiful and heartbreaking new song. The tone change at 4:50 is so cool
Ásgeir | King and Cross
I'm convinced that all music from Iceland is awesome. Ásgeir is an Icelandic singer-songwriter who reminds quite a bit of Ben Howard. I cannot recommend him enough. This is one of my favorites from his album In the Silence. The whole thing is killer, but check out In Harmony, Torrent, and Head in the Snow in particular.
OK Go | The Writing's On the Wall Check out OK Go's sick new music video for The Writing's On the Wall!
Sun Culture | Sea Salt
A fun song dripping with summer.
Son Lux | Lost It To Trying
Apologies for the unintentional hiatus! Here is a song that I've been playing on repeat by Son Lux. Son Lux kind of reminds me of Alt-J- His music has a pretty unpredictable style and some songs can be almost creepy at times. Check him out!
Typhoon
Gah, I love NPR Tiny Desk Concerts. Here is one with Typhoon, an awesome 11-piece (!!) band from Portland, Oregon. Their set list in this video is Young Fathers, The Lake, and Dreams of Cannibalism, three songs off their most recent album, White Lighters.
Daughter | Human
My favorite song off Daughter's 2013 first full-length album, If You Leave.
"Underneath the skin there's a human./ Buried deep within there's a human./ And despite everything I'm still human./ But I think I'm dying here."
Said The Whale | Out on the Shield
A delicious song by Said The Whale that I can't seem to get out of my head.
Bombadil | A Question
An amusing and relatable song by North Carolinian folk group Bombadil, about the awkwardness of confessing "like liking" someone and seeing if the feeling is mutual.
"What is it Stewart?"
The Family Crest | Love Don't Go
A brilliant song that I heard on WXPN the other day. Enjoy!
Bronze Radio Return | Further On
This is one of my favorite songs off Bronze Radio Return's new album, Up, On & Over, released just a few weeks ago. IT IS AWESOME. Give it a listen!
I just wanted to say that I went through this entire blog. Great taste in music! Do you know any other good music blogs I can look through?
Wow, thanks so much! Two great blogs to check out, which inspired me to start a blog of my own are:
2N and Feed Me Indie
Both are indie music blogs that post some excellent finds. Check them out!
The Album Leaf | The Light
This is a gorgeous song by The Album Leaf that popped up during an episode of Scandal (which I'm obsessed with currently).
It is beautifully hopeful, yet sorrowful as well, with complex layers and melodies. Love it.
The Washover Fans | Santa Fe
A beautiful song from a pretty unknown indie folk band out of Seattle, WA.
