皇太子ご夫妻は8日、東日本大震災の復興状況視察のため、常磐線特急で福島県に向け出発された。 同県広野町の県立ふたば未来学園高校と、いわき市の農業生産法人を訪れ、同日夜帰京する。 ご夫妻の福島県訪問は2013年9月以来2年ぶり。震災後の同県訪問は今回で3度目だが、津波被害を受けた太平洋沿いの「浜通り」地域の訪問は初めて。

The Crown Prince and Princess visited Iwaki today!  The last time they visited Fukushima Prefecture was 2 years ago. They’ve been in the prefecture 3 times since the disaster, but this is the first time they’ve visited “Hamadori” (the coast of Fukushima comprised of towns like Iwaki and Minami-Soma, and which was damaged by the tsunami).

So.. We didn't get to see the Supermoon lunar eclipse here in Japan. That said, the moon is huge right now! Wish I could've got a better picture!

Saw this really cool group playing at Iwaki Station one night. You can’t tell from the picture but there were quite a lot of people hanging about, listening to them. They’re called Shintsukitouka (新月灯火), and after looking them up on their blog, I’ve realized they are pretty awesome!! Here’s a blurb (edited down): 

私達は、原発事故以降、毎月福島に行っています。[…] 東京では原発避難民への関心がドンドン薄れてきていて、特に福島の子供達が何を感じ、何を思っているかなんて殆ど気にしてないように思えてしまいます。 だから、東京の人に対して「私達はここ福島でしっかり生きてるんだゾ！」というのを、もっともっとアピールする必要があるんじゃないだろーか!? てことで、ＡＫＢ４８の『恋するフォーチュンクッキーを踊ってみた』の福島Kidsバージョンを福島の高校生たちと制作することにしました！[…] 今は、福島の子供達が健康で健全に歩める未来の実現が最優先だと思うのです。[…]

Rough translation: We’ve visited Fukushima every month since the incident at Fukushima Daichi… Unfortunately it seems to use that the average Tokyoite’s concern for the victims of the nuclear disaster is beginning to fade; they don’t seem to care what the children of Fukushima are feeling or thinking. That’s why we’ve decided to produce a “Fukushima KIDS” version of AKB48′s “Koi Suru Fortune Cookie” dance video, with help from Fukushima’s high school students. We need to show those Tokyoites that we’re thriving here in Fukushima! … We think the realization of a healthy future for Fukushima’s  children is of the utmost priority. 

This is the video they’re talking about. It features students from cities all over Fukushima. 

How awesome that people are still trying to support the children in prefectures affected by 3.11!

“Reflection of the Glowing Red Sunrise  As always, I was awakened by the cats. While I was struggling to stay awake, standing in the bathroom, I saw the stars beckon, and thus I went outside! This is the sandy beach by my flat. When it’s full tide, the waves reach past the Tori in the swimming area. Thanks to you, I was able to take a wonderful picture of the sunrise’s reflection. So I got ready for work and came here!
