i just wanted to say i love your blog ever so much. loras is my all-time favourite character of any book or show series, and i just want him to be happy ;_; i miss well-characterised loras so much... (although i'm living the got fan dream tbh with a boyfriend who honestly looks just like finn jones so i've got my own knight of flowers!) anyway look at me rambling, basically thank you for your blog and you are the best :x

I am outraged by what the producers of the TV series did, reducing Loras character and minimizing the love between Renly and Loras. What they did after the death of Renly is a shame.

yeah it really is.

you can even tell Finn Jones was fed up too, but he can’t really complain. But at least the show is done with their “story” and I say we pretend the show doesn’t exist and reminiscence the books at least.

What is the story of Loras after Renly's death in the books? I read that it is very different from the TV series. Olyvar there is in the books? (I ask you about Olyvar because Loras did not die in the books (?) I'm a bit confused)

well, the full spoiler version is...

After Renly gets assassinated, Loras joins the Kingsguard, because he had no intentions of getting married or pursuing anyone else. Tyrion is surprised such a young popular knight would give that up, and Loras tells him the famous line, “When the sun has set, no candle can replace it.” Referencing how no one can replace Renly.

As kingsguard to Tommen, who is much younger in the books, Loras becomes a sort of admirable figure for Tommen, who favors Loras, much to Cersei’s ire. So she sends him away as soon as an opportunity arises. Knowing how Loras wants to avenge Renly, she gives him the lead on attacking Stannis/his forces.

In his attempts in the battle, he fights very hard, but was badly injured (sob burned) in the battle. Since he’s not a POV character, we don’t really know the details. Last news on Loras is that his condition is bad, and likely to die...

But not 100% confirmed to die.

It’s especially maddening because in the books, Loras devotes his life to avenging Renly, who he loved absolutely. And the show kind of just throws him around as some cheap “gay sex” ploy. :((((((
