DRAGON HEAD, 1990 PERFORMANCE 1 HR. EDGE FESTIVAL 90, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, ENGLAND

I sit motionless on a chair with 5 pythons placed on my body. THe pythons, 3 to 4.5 m long, have not been fed for two weeks before the time of performance. A circle of ice blocks surrounds me. During the performance the snakes move around my body following my lines of energy.

ROLE EXCHANGE, 1975 PERFORMANCE 4 HR. DE APPEL GALLERY AND RED  LIGHT DISTRICT, AMSTERDAM

I find a woman who has worked as a professional prostitute for ten years.

At this point I have also worked as an artist for ten years.

I propose to exchange roles.

She accepts.

The woman replaces me at my opening at the De Appel Gallery in Amsterdam.

At the same time I sit in her place in a window of the Red Light District in Amsterdam.

We both take total responsibility for our roles.

RHYTHM 5, 1974 PERFORMANCE 1 HR. 30 MIN. STUDENT CULTURAL CENTRE, BELGRADE

I construct a five-pointed star (the construction is made in wood shavings soaked in 100 litres of petrol).

I light the star.

I walk around the star. 

I cut my hair and throw it  into each end of the star.

I cut my finger nails and throw them into each end of the star.

I cut my toe nails and throe them into each end of the star.

I enter the empty space in the star and lie down.

BALKAN BAROQUE, 1997 PERFORMANCE AND VIDEO INSTALLATION VENICE BIENNALE

Images are projected onto the three walls of the space. My mother, my father and myself. On the floor are two copper sinks and one copper bath filled with water.

In the middle of the space I wash 1,500 fresh beef bones, continuously singing folk songs from my childhood.

we are sitting back to back tied together with our hair without any movement for 16 hours. Then the audience came in, we continued sitting for one more hour.
