Anthropomorphic Tree
Anthropomorphism is the recognition of people-like characteristics in animals, plants or non-living things. This tree can be found in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. During the time of slavery in the South, slave ships were often unable to make it through the Outer Banks because of the treacherous landscapes. From the looks of this picture, it seems as if they may have lost some passengers along the way.

Today I met Georgia and Lawrence, both 91. They've been married for 70 years, have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I asked about their relationship and how it started. Without hesitation, Lawrence recalled everything right down to what she was wearing.(A 'fine black dress, but I was wearing a shabby red plaid shirt, I wasn't expecting to see her') Georgia laughed about this and when he talked about how hard to get she was. Later on, I asked what their 'secret' was and Lawrence replied "This!" gesturing to the water. "We always go back to the sea."

hahah, honestly? i can't stand it. it's different when you have lived here forever, know everyone & have to deal with the politics of this place. i would love it if i just came here for vacation, or every weekend like most of the people from va beach do.. the winter sucks, i didnt go to the beach but 2 times during the last summer because i worked so much, the people that live here year round suck.. its beautiful, but i'm sick of it haha.
That's what I hear. A friend of mine moved down there this summer and is abosulutely dreading her first winter.
Nags Head in October
I'll be going back to the OBX the 14th-16th of October and staying in the usual cottage <3 I'm so excited.
this is crazy for me to find this, i actually live on the outer banks. have all my life.
I'm glad you did :) How do you like it there?
Irene
So I live in VA....
BUT my work calls me and needs me to cover for a store down in north carolina, and it's only about an hour away from the OBX <3 I'm so excited right now. If someone would let me stay the night at their place I would be in heaven.

6 am, on the Outer Banks. Love how if you wake up crazy early, NC beaches are still empty. (submitted by kidethnic)
