I went to see Sigur Ros at the O2 Apollo, Manchester last night
And it was really good. As you would expect. Jonsi's voice and performance was perfect and beautiful. The full band sounded so awesome, the range of instrumentation was just exciting to see. Untitled 8 ending blew my mind as you would expect it to. The thing that really made the night for me strangely was the lighting and production design, the colours, lights, drapes, random flashing bulbs, perfectly crafted silhouettes, the short films and graphics that played, the atmosphere that the production design created was so cool. Dark reds and strange landscapes, warm browns and corn fields, deep blues and swimming underwater, rock faces, lighthouses, martians, apocalypse, whatever. I really can't get over how beautiful the lay out of the stage was and how brilliant the whole band looked in black with their figures silhouetted in the half light. Music-wise I dunno what to say, they just sounded fantastic. It was an all round heart warming, cathartic, life affirming spectacle and experience.
