Play Android Apps on Your Desktop PC
Want to run Android apps on your PC ? Grab Bluestacks. It’s a free app which is now available to download and seems to run the majority of Android apps we’ve thrown at it.
The app runs on Windows and there’s a Pro version in the works which will let you run those more CPU / graphic-intensive apps and games like Angry Birds and Cut The Rope.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Specs Leak, It'll be a Verizon Exclusive
That ultimate Android device we’ve been talking about for months, the Nexus Prime, turns out it has a different name: Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Bummer, because we though Nexus Prime was just about the most bad ass thing you could call a smartphone. Anyway, the folks at Boy Genius Report got their hands on the spec sheet for the Galaxy Nexus, which they say will be announced next Tuesday at CTIA. It’ll pack a Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 dual core Cortex A9 processor running at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 4.65 inch 1280 x 720 pixel Super AMOLED HD curved glass display, 32 GB of built in memory, a 5 megapixel camera (seriously?) that can capture 1080p video, a forward facing 1.3 megapixel camera, support for near field communications, LTE (depending on the operator), and the best part is of course that it’ll run Google’s latest version of Android, codenamed Ice Cream Sandwich.
Said monster of a device will be a Verizon exclusive, which is rather odd. The first Nexus was initially a T-Mobile exclusive, but then a version with AT&T 3G appeared a bit later. The next Nexus, the Nexus S, also premiered as a T-Mobile exclusive, then versions that supported AT&T’s 3G network and Sprint’s 4G WiMAX network came later. Will the Galaxy Nexus show up for Verizon first and then reach everyone else? If we had to make a bet, we’d say that’s most definitely going to be the case. As for Europe … no word on that, but we wouldn’t be surprised to hear it crossing the pond by the end of the year.
Curiously, Samsung is going with a Texas Instruments chip. It’s likely that they wanted to ship the Galaxy Nexus with their new Exynos 4212, but couldn’t get it ready on time. TI’s website says the OMAP 4460 isn’t even going to start sampling until Q1 2012, so—yea, we’re just as confused.

iPhone 4S Upgrade Kit for iPhone 4 Owners

iPhone 4S Upgrade Kit for iPhone 4 Owners Is Only 99 Cents
That's right. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to upgrade your iPhone 4 to the iPhone 4S. Just buy this special kit. It is just 99 cents! It's easy. Here's how:
1. Buy sticker. 2. Peel off sticker. 3. Apply sticker carefully to the back of your iPhone.
Done. It doesn't run Siri, but screw that. Enjoy!

iPhone (finally) coming to Sprint.
Regardless of whether Sprint dropped $20 billion, or just the right combination of phrases to the right combination of people, Dan Hesse finally (finally!) has an iPhone to call his own. Despite The Now Network's stellar lineup of Android devices (and that increasingly valuable Everything plan), Sprint's been struggling to gain postpaid subscribers for as long as most can remember. Granted, the prepaid arm is doing alright, but without Apple's cash cow sitting on its shelves -- well, let's just say the company's shareholders are apt to be pleased with today's turn of events. As you might have guessed, the specs for Sprint's version perfectly match the Verizon model -- both have an EVDO radio for 3G within the US, and a GSM one for service outside the country. As with AT&T and Verizon, Sprint customers hankering for the 4S' dual-core A5 processor, 8MP camera, dual-mode radio and Siri personal assistant can place their pre-orders starting this Friday, October 7th, with the phone officially landing a week later, on the 14th.

Verizon to Apple: Stop Suing Samsung
Our friends at Big Red Verizon have chimed in on Apple’s attempts to get Samsung products temporarily banned from being sold here in the United States. They say taking Samsung and their products off the market is bad for business as it hurts their goals for high-speed wireless adoption.
In a court filing, Verizon stated that “the requested injunction of certain Samsung products will harm Verizon Wireless and U.S. consumers. It also has the possibility of slowing the deployment of next-generation networks — such as Verizon Wireless’s — contrary to the stated goals of the U.S. government.”
Verizon has a very valid complaint. As Apple doesn’t move as fast as other OEMs when it comes to new data and cellular technology (Apple’s concerns are always impact on battery life and they like to be sure of new technology before they employ it), Verizon and other carriers rely on the great phones made by Samsung, HTC, Motorola, LG and others to put marketable features inside that pertain to Verizon’s network. ‘
Being able to say they have 4G LTE phones is a big deal for them, and while other OEMs aren’t as threatened by Apple as Samsung is, we see this as being Verizon’s early warning shot before these patent lawsuits start getting out of hand.
We’re sure other carriers feel the same, but don’t be too surprised if none of them speak out on it. Really, we’re just glad to see that the nation’s largest carrier is defending Samsung against Apple (especially as they’re only one of two US carriers to carry the iPhone at this moment).
Facebook to Form its Own PAC to back Political Candidates
Facebook confirmed it filed paperwork on Monday to start its own political action committee.
"FB PAC will give our employees a way to make their voice heard in the political process by supporting candidates who share our goals of promoting the value of innovation to our economy while giving people the power to share and make the world more open and connected," said a spokesman via email.
The firm acknowledged the formation of the PAC after reports emerged of Facebook registering the domain names FBPAC.org and FBPAC.us. Creating a PAC is just the latest step in Facebook's continued expansion of its presence in Washington, but this is the first time the firm will back candidates.
Facebook is likely looking to avoid the type of Washington scrutiny that has affected other firms like Microsoft and Google, which is currently under a Federal Trade Commission antitrust probe. The perception Google was previously sympathetic towards Democrats hasn't helped with the GOP in charge of the House.
Facebook's lobbying spending has totalled $550,000 for fiscal 2011, a significant boost over he $350,000 spent in 2010 and $200,000 in 2009.
Is Google Going to Start Offering Cellular Service?
It seems like anytime a wireless carrier is going up for sale, or some new spectrum lands on the auction block, pundits start insisting that Google should step up and get itself into cellular networking. There's some new evidence, though, that the company might be actually following-through on something along those lines, with the discovery of a Google-branded SIM. The card in question seems to have come from Spain, where it's reported that Google engineers have been using these SIMs in combination with Nexus S phones. When inserted, the cards identify the carrier as Google_Es. Just what is Google up to here? The most sensible explanation would be that Google is testing out plans to act as an MVNO and piggyback its services on the network of an existing carrier. While this Google SIM is a fascinating find (assuming it's legitimate), it raises a whole bunch of new questions. If Google is to start acting as a carrier, how would it brand the offering? Google Voice would be the obvious product to tie it to. We also wonder if Google is considering a similar service in the US, or if it only has its sights on Europe for the moment.
