The Muse of the Violets, Renee Vivien FYI's muse of 2014 Women are Weapons™
I love your carnal lips lingering Still creased by the kisses from before. Your bewitching steps, And the calm perversity of your eyes Has taken its treacherous and cold Blues from the North Sky... - from "Nocturne" by Renee Vivien (translated by Catherine Kroger) For 2014 FYI introduces "The Muse of the Violets", a romantic collection of lingerie, loungewear, and erotic accessories inspired by Victorian poet, Renee Vivien. The collection draws from the passionate work and life of Vivien who was notorious both for her fervid poetry and indulgences in fetishes and illicit affairs. She proudly embraced her sexuality even at the turn of the 20th century, and wrote openly about her emotions and erotic encounters. Violets are a frequent element in her poetry, and Vivien was known for constantly surrounding herself with them. The feminine association with these flowers in harmony with the ardor of the woman they came to represent, truly inspired this year's collection. This influence can be seen in the feminine, hand-painted floral print details, and in the contrasting masculine touches throughout the collection. So "When the delicate art of vice occupies your leisure..." (Vivien) show your colors in FYI. Women are Weapons.™ Dress yourself as such.
