Short duas for the last day of Ramadan

Dua 1 

ياللَّهُمَّ هٰذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ ٱلَّذِي انْزَلْتَ فِيهِ ٱلْقُرْآنَ وَقَدْ تَصَرَّمَ

allahumma hadha shahru ramadana alladhi anzalta fihi alQur'ana wa qad tasarrama

O Allah, this month of Ramadhan in which You revealed the Qur'an is about to come to its end.

وَاعُوذُ بِوَجْهِكَ ٱلْكَرِيمِ يَا رَبِّ

wa a`udhu biwajhika alkarimi ya rabbi

I seek refuge with Your Noble Face, O Lord,

انْ يَطْلُعَ ٱلْفَجْرُ مِنْ لَيْلَتِي هٰذِهِ

an yatlu`a alfajru min laylati hadhihi

that it dawns tonight

اوْ يَتَصَرَّمَ شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ

aw yatasarrama shahru ramadana

or the month of Ramadhan elapses

وَلَكَ قِبَلِي تَبِعَةٌ اوْ ذَنْبٌ تُرِيدُ انْ تُعَذِّبَنِي بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقَاكَ

wa laka qibali tabi`atun aw dhanbun turidu an tu`adhdhibani bihi yawma alqaka

but I am still liable to an offense or a sin that You want to punish me for committing it when I will meet You. 

Dua 2

يَا مُدَبّرَ الأُمُورِ،

yaa madabbiral umoor

O the Director of all affairs;

يَا بَاعِثَ مَنْ فِي القُبُورِ،

yaa baa—i’tha man fil quboor

O the Resurrector of all those in graves;

يَا مُجْرِيَ البُحُورِ،

yaa mujriyal buh’oor

O He Who causes oceans to flow;

يَا مُلَيّنَ الحَدِيدِ لِدَاوُدَ

yaa mulayyinal h’adeedi li—dawood

O He Who made the iron pliant for (Prophet) David;

صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ…

s’aali a’laa muh’aamadin wa aali muh’ammad

(Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad…

Then Say: waf—a’lbee And do for me (mention your legitimate desires)

Dua 3

Imam Jafar As Sadiq (as) short dua’a 3 on the last night: Sayyid Ibn Tawus has reported Imam Ja`far al-Sadiq (a.s) as saying: As for anyone who bids farewell to the month of Ramadan with the following supplication, Almighty Allah will forgive him before morning and will confer upon him with the bliss of submission before Him (i.e. Almighty Allah):

اللّهُمّ لا تَجْعَلْهُ آخِرَ العَهْدِ من صِيَامِي لِشَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ،

allahumma la taj`alhu akhira al`ahdi mn siyamy lishahri ramazana

O Allah: (please) do not decide my observance of fasting in this month of Ramazan to be the last of my(life’s) observance of fasting.

وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ يَطْلُعَ فَجْرُ هذِهِ اللّيْلَةِ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ غَفَرْتَ لِي

wa a`udhu bika an yatlu`a fajru hadhihi allaylati illa wa qad ghafarta le

I take refuge with Thee lest the dawn of this night breaks forth without me having been positively forgiven.

Dalam hal kedermawanan dan menolong orang lain jadilah seperti sungai. Biarkan mengalir tak henti-henti dan tanpa mengharap kembali. (Jalaluddin Ar-Rumi)

Alirkanlah pertolonganmu tanpa henti. Bagai sungai yang terus mengalir dari tempat yang tinggi. Teruslah memberi bantuan, hingga terasa sebagai bagian dari kehidupan. Jika kita berhasil menjadi demikian, niscaya pertolongan Allah terus datang. Di saat susah maupun gembira. Karena Allah senantiasa menolong seorang hamba selama hamba itu menolong saudaranya. Semoga kita senantiasa diberi hidayah untuk terus bederma. Dan berniat hanya karena Allah SWT.

“Jadilah seikhlas Salman al-Farisi.” Salman ingin meminang seorang perempuan di Madinah. tapi kerana dia berasal dari Parsi dan tak berapa tahu adat Madinah, dia meminta sahabatnya Abu Darda sebagai wakil. lalu pergilah mereka ke rumah wanita itu dengan segala persiapan. ketika di rumah wanita itu, Abu Darda pun memperkenalkan Salman al-Farisi. ketua rumah itu berbesar hati menerima kunjungan sahabat Nabi SAW yang sama-sama berjihad itu. lalu Abu Darda pun menyatakan hajat Salman al-Farisi untuk meminang anak perempuan kepada tuan punya rumah. setelah tuan rumah itu berbincang dengan anaknya, si ibu memulakan bicara, mewakili anak perempuan itu. kata si ibu : “maaf atas keterus terangan ini. tetapi maaf, kami menolak pinangan Salman al-Farisi. namun jika pinangan itu datang daripada Abu Darda, mungkin kami akan menerima.” bayangkan jika anda di tempat Salman al-Farisi. anda ajak kawan baik anda untuk wakil meminang, tapi anda ditolak sebab orang tu berkenan kat kawan anda. kalau ikut drama dalam TV, memang akan ada konflik. tapi ini bukan drama TV. ini kisah sahabat Nabi SAW. lalu apa kata Salman al-Farisi? “Allahuakbar! maka semua mahar dan persiapan kahwin yang aku sediakan ini, aku sedekahkan kepada Abu Darda supaya dia boleh bernikah dengan anak perempuan kamu.” terkedu saya bila baca kisah ni. terharu. sayu. betapa bersihnya hati seseorang kerana keihklasannya dalam bercinta, hingga sanggup melepaskan apa yang dikehendaki untuk kebahagiaan insan lain. Allahu. jujur, saya menangis. keikhlasan sebegini memang sesuatu yang unik. kerana Salman al-Farisi itu orang yang yakin pada jalan Allah. kerana orang yang ikhlas kerana Allah takkan merasa pernah memiliki apa-apa, kerana tiada suatu benda pun yang kita miliki dalam dunia ini. sesuatu yang kita cintai itu, bukan untuk dimiliki tapi untuk dipinjam. dan bila dipinjamkan, kita kena bersedia pulangkan balik. bagaimana caranya untuk redha? ikhlas. ikhlaslah :’) “ya Allah, ikhlaskan aku seperti sahabat Nabi SAW ini, ikhlaskan aku seperti Salman al-Farisi, dalam urusan mencintai dan segala urusan.”

For those who feel like their spirituality is like a thermometer (constantly fluctuating between high and low states)

Personally I found that there are little things that you can do to feel a spiritual high most of the time. These are just some things that work for me, inshaAllah it may be of some use to others as well:

1. Always read the Quran every day along with its translation: 

         - I usually read right before bed because it gives me time to reflect on my day. Also I find that I always come across a verse that related to something I had to deal with that day, so it helps me gauge whether or not I responded appropriately. It’s actually really amazing, like a little miracle right before your eyes lol

2. Try to pray a little extra when you can:

         - For example, if you did well on an exam, add in an extra 2 rakat prayer thanking your Lord for the mercy he has bestowed on you (InshaAllah he will grant you even more success in return :)

3.  Nohas/Latmiyas/Nasheeds (BIG BIG BIG ONE):

         - I find that this is usually under emphasized. I feel this is SUPER important because it keeps my passion for Aba-Abdullah (as) kindled and in full rage year round. Plus another added bonus is that it makes little things like driving, working out, studying etc, an act of worship because it puts you in a constant remembrance of the Ahul Bayt (as) and in-turn, of Allah (swt).

4. A Lecture a day keeps the Shaitan (LA) away:

         - Seriously. I know we all live a super busy lives, juggling between school, work, family, and friends, but try to squeeze in a lecture everyday. Personally during the weekdays, I listen to a lecture on my way to school. It works nicely for me because it’s an hour drive, which is typically the length of the lecture, but it also helps set my day up in the right mentality. 

5. Ziyarat Ashura

        - Every day. Try reading it during your free time. Disassociation from the enemies of the Ahlul Bayt (as) is an important part of being a Rafidhi, so make this a regular thing inshaAllah. Plus, I’ve read narrations that for those who don’t have the honor of visiting Imam Hussain (as) should recite this Ziyarat to gain its rewards and benefits 

6. Daily Ziyarats:

       - There are short Ziyarats for our Imams (as), one for each day of the week. Personally I find listening to them after Fajr, before the sun rises, makes me feel a bit more connected to the Ahlul Bayt (as). 

These are just some little things which I find to help stabilize those highs and lows we all go through. And don’t get me wrong, I definitely still go through them as well, but this helps soften those lows and increase the highs. If you guys do other things, please share inshaAllah!
