Hi! this is art I made for a local pokemon card project, poke card challenge on instagram! this will be printed as s card, im so excited :)!

I wanted to do something more artsy but I realized I was doing too much and stopped myself from complicating this too much, a cool looking Ingo is enough.

Anyway im moving from my main @fukurinn not sure if I´ll completely abandon it, I havent been able to comment on posts for a while now, no matter how much I ask for help about it and since I like to engage in conversation its been frustrating and made me not want to go back

I know we’re all happy about the new dialogue in ZA that confirms Ingo got home. And yes, it’s good, I loved it, but also, it has certain distressing implications.

This is how the Lumiose Museum talks about Ingo:

This is worded as if they think Ingo in the past is just some random Hisuian who vanished one day. Which raises the question: why don’t they know that Warden Ingo and Subway Boss Ingo are the same person?

The subway guys are big enough celebrities that at least two random Lumiose civilians talk about them, one’s dialogue even seems related to Ingo’s return specifically (the Multi Train guy). So surely when he reappeared there would have been so many people asking where he went? Unova police, Interpol, every major media outlet, Nimbasa citizens, railfans. There’s no way he’d be able to avoid giving an official statement on where he’s been, which would certainly have reached Kalosian news cycles and been mentioned in this museum. 

There’s two real possibilities here I think.

Whatever authorities are in charge of investigating this, or maybe Ingo himself, wanted to keep it secret. Which makes sense I guess, if they want to avoid panic about non-consensual time travel, but they’d need a damn good cover story.

Is also not that uncommon for prominent trainers to dissapear and the people arround them just take it as them doing their thing, like Red or Hilbert/Hilda, this is a world were kids can travel alone after all.

I think it all depends on how Emmet managed things, if he told everyone Ingo was just traveling the public wouldn´t have questioned it much.

The NPC dialogue about the multi-train are meant to not inform much other than Ingo is back, but considering this apparent fan has nothing to say about Ingo coming back maybe no one knew he was really gone GONE, or only a number of people did.

My idea was that each side of the boys could be its own illustration and make postcards of them, but Emmet ended up taking over the full picture so Ingo´s side just doesnt stand out on its own, oh well, Emmet is too powerful nothing new

A friend pointed out that probably gamefreak felt compelled to mention Ingo made it back okay and has his job and his trains and Emmet and all the good things so even if they have plans for the future we could all just chill now and stop speculating about the ingo shaped elephant in the room every time a game was announced

From what I got to see from the leaks, no Unova games are planned for the near future but that doesnt mean we wont see Ingo or Emmet again, its common to have odd ball characters appear in other regions (Mina in Lets go or Grimsley in Alola).

At the same time I could see gamefreak just putting them in another region and have them not adress anything directly, just two dorks acting like they didnt go through an eldritch horror of a situation. Or maybe on the complete opposite, they just casually talk about it because they are that earnest and honest.

There are plenty of fanfics and works that put Emmet in the international police, them being a shady organization aside, it makes sense to me that him and now Ingo would try to prevent something like this happening again. They already were on the bussiness of transporting people and now they have a personal experience of someone you love not making it home.

Im happy that we get to know he is back doing what he likes with the people that love him, but at the same time it doesnt sit right with me that that´s just it. I dont think he would be comfortable just acting like nothing happened, but then again, he really earned to do his thing and his character in PLA was about not letting go of his old self, which is special about him because other fallers move on and in general a character stuck in the past is seen as a flaw, but with Ingo he gains resolve by experiencing something of his old life again.

I know from a real world perspective they intended to give a clear happy ending tied with a nice bow, because most likely they dont have any plans and at the same time they cant go into much detail in case they decide to do something with it later. Which is kinda how they end stories, you never know if five years later they will go back to certain region and pick up were they left it.

Ingo´s status update feels simultaneously kinda rich in content but also the most "here damn" resolution they could have given.

We get to know Emmet closed the multi train but apparentely not the single and double, and that the multi is only recently back, I wonder if he got any rest or did anything else when Ingo was gone, hell, did Ingo come back recently or ir just that now the multi is coming back?

And Ingo really picked up his butt Lorax style and just went back to his planet, what the hell, sure. Like what were the mechanics? Why would Ingo leave and not explain himself to anyone, that isnt much like him, or maybe something moved him again.

If anything im happy but I want a real closing act! Specially now that we know more of the Emmet side of things. Gamefreak is a little more generous with continuing storylines nowadays but at the same time those things take years, Volo is also arround too, if anything being so deep into this has taugth me not to take anything as setup in this franchise, but I guess the doors arent completely closed here.
