Why am I crying?

“Do you remember Ray Mulciber? He was in the school year above me but got held back?” Victoire told him, feeling a pit in her stomach. “Not to mention Jameson Dolohov, that kid who used to always hit on me despite being twelve and I was eighteen.” Victoire sighed softly as she sat back in the chair. “I just didn’t expect these people who we knew through school to turn… evil. But I guess that’s the world we live in.”
“Darling,” he sighed. “I don’t know. Maybe they feel pressured.” Teddy’d seen it too, how young most of the Death Eaters had been. He shook his head and looked over at her, “It’s not like it wouldn’t be unheard of.”
Teddy looked over at her. “You don’t need to take it too much to heart, Vic. You’ll be miserable if you do.”

“I really need people to stop asking if I’m ok,” James complained, stepping through to Teddy’s office with a sigh and a coffee in hand. “Three people in the elevator, two people on the way into the office and dad’s assistant.”
“I mean, you did hit your head. You don’t need anymore damage done to it, I can see why they’d be concerned.”
alisonxwood:
“I have nothing to hide. After last week I want to do this no stress thing for New Years and you bringing up the whole death eater attack, isn’t helping that,” she replied. She then sighed. “What do you need though?”
“I think you know why I called you in here, Ali. Unless you don’t want to talk about it yet, which I understand,” he said, gently. “We don’t have to right now if you’re not ready to. I just thought it’d be easier to talk to me than my Dad.”
dominiquexxweasley:
“I’m not talking any sort of way, Teddy,” Dominique replied. “I’m talking how I normally talk.”
“Mhm, which is exactly why it’s hard to follow,” he teased. “Need something?”
victoire-weaslette:
Victoire snapped out of her trance and looked at him. “Yeah sorry. Just thinking about some of the faces I thought I saw last weekend.”
“Careful, Vic,” he sighed, knowing the line between their relationship and his job could start to blur. “You start talking about some of these faces and I might have to look into it.” Teddy looked at her. ”Unless you want me to.”
victoire-weaslette:
“I just know some people are misled these days.”
He looked up at her. “You okay?”
novaxlongbottom:
Nova rubbed at the bridge of her nose. “Teddy, come on, do you really think I have things to hide? I’m like an open book. I’m just trying to piece words together without sounding stupid.”
“You are concussed, love. Anything stupid you say, I’ll just write off as your brain being mildly damaged.”
ginny-pctter:
“Is that how you question all your suspects, love?” Ginny asked as she walked into the room. She walked over and kissed his cheek. “Did I interrupt something?”
He shut his mouth when he saw it was his mother and shook his head. “Oh. No, it’s not. Sorry.” Teddy leaned down so she could kiss his cheek and smirked, shaking his head. “I’ve literally been here all day not knowing what the hell I’m doing because your husband’s not making any sense.” He sighed and leaned against his desk. “How’s James?”
braveheart-flint:
“Well how about we let them down in custody wallow in their guilt for a few hours and I help you look over the files for Scamanders case while that’s happening,” Rowan suggested, pulling Carter’s chair over without any answer in the matter. “And if I wasn’t such a good guy, I would have hexed that girl for the look of evil on her expression.”
“Nice try. You’re not my partner, Flint. It’d go against office protocol,’ he looked over at him. “Don’t you have like...- oh, I dunno. A job to do?”
“If you keep talking like that, I’m going to think you have something to hide.”
macnair-w:
“Randomly, hmm? I mean, I suppose that’s as good a reason as any. I think I’m just looking for a change? I just don’t know what the change is.” William paused. “Sorry, sorry. You didn’t need to hear any of this.”
“We got engaged and married the same night. So it was random..” Teddy looked up at him and shrugged, “You still got time. Don’t be so worried about it.”
braveheart-flint:
When Rowan heard Teddy was back from America, he darted across the office, narrowly avoiding a clash with an intern. “Watch it!” The young girl snarled, Rowan arching an eyebrow as he stepped into Ted’s office. “Has Malfoy got a new assistant? She was snarky,” he commented, before turning his attention to Ted. “Zabini has brought a couple guys in that he managed to secure. I got one thinking he could outsmart me by blending in,” Rowan smirked, tossing a protein bar in the other man’s direction. “All the rage amongst muggles these things.”
@fullmoonxmetamorphic
“Malfoy?” Teddy questioned, flipping through a file he was holding. “You sure it wasn’t just my cousin.” He glanced up at the girl in question as she turned the corner. “Oh, her? She’s an intern in my father’s office, actually. Be easy on her, okay? She’s a sweet kid once she loses the sass.” He caught the bar. “I don’t even know what I’m working on anymore. This or the Scamander case.”
macnair-w:
“That’s kind of what I’m hoping for… eventually.” He let out a sigh. “Didn’t think I’d ever be the type to want marriage but… it just feels like I’m missing something.”
He shrugged, “I mean, just because it feels like you’re missing something, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s marriage. I wasn’t looking to get married, it just randomly happened.”
macnair-w:
“Is married life really all it’s cracked up to be? Don’t ask why I’m asking…. it’s not like I’m about to propose to anyone or anything.”
@fullmoonxmetamorphic
“Uh, sure? Depends what you think it’s all cracked up to be.” Teddy shrugged, “I don’t feel any different, but it was just a natural switch for us, I guess.”

trip to america.
carter-yaxley:
Carter was surprised when she got to the office before Teddy - it almost never happened anymore. She didn’t usually want to be here, so it was hard to get herself motivated enough to come in on time in the morning. She frowned, shrugging out of her jacket and hanging it on the back of her chair, standing with her hands on her hips as she surveyed the room. She could get to work, she supposed, glancing around the empty office. Or she could see if there was any food in the break room. She nodded once, taking back off down the hall.
Her steps slowed as she heard the familiar voice, but she didn’t want to turn to look in case Harry caught her too, so she kept on, dashing quickly into the small room and sighing happily at the mountain of muffins on the table. She grabbed two and made her way back, meeting Teddy’s gaze as she did so. Carter followed him silently, biting back a smirk as he started complaining as soon as the door was closed. It was nice when he managed to drop down to her level of moodiness, comforting almost. She took the coffee, switching it for the muffin she’d snagged him and walking over to her desk.
“What a coveted position.” She drawled, rolling her eyes as she picked her muffin apart. “We get our pick between two asinine cases. Lucky us.” Carter sighed slightly, thinking about the two, although she already knew what she’d prefer to do. Any excuse to get out of this damn country was good enough for her. She smiled wickedly at him, a glint in her eyes at his suggestion. “You read my mind, Lupin.” She knew his reasons were far different from hers, but she was glad nonetheless they were still on the same page. She took a sip of her coffee, feeling slightly better. “When do you think we get to leave? Oh, please tell me it’s today. If I have to see that creep from the DMLE again I swear I’m gonna blast him through a wall.”
“Thanks. It was an absolute nightmare trying to get Iris to my grandmother this morning,” he said, taking the muffin from her. “She got used to me and Pan both being home over the holidays, she just wasn’t having it. Teddy yawned and ran a hand through his blue-tipped hair, setting the Scamander file aside, reaching for the other one. “Which creep in DMLE? There’s a few. My brother has a thing for you too, so watch out. I told him if he valued his life at all, he wouldn’t try it.”
Teddy flipped through the file, looking over at her. “So, Massachusetts it is then. Some way to start the new year.” He hopped off of the desk and handed Carter the file so she could look over it. “Today, I think. Dad seemed pretty insistent with me telling him which case we wanted to take. But hey, at least we know despite our flaws, the two of us still have our position as one of the best teams in the office.” He took the Scamander file, preparing to take it back to Harry’s office, but he paused and flipped through it. “The one thing that’s tripping me up. Why the hell was his body found in America of all places, though? It’s like whoever’s doing this is trying to make it a global scare, not just localized here.”
