Can Anxiety Cause Digestive Problems?
Anxiety doesn’t feel like most people describe it. It is more intense than worry. When the mind enters a state of fear it releases stress hormones like cortisol and norephinephrine (also a neurotransmitter) in preparation to face a difficult situation. In psychology this is known as the ‘flight-or-fight’ response. These hormones are extremely helpful when you need them. However, when you have them when you are sedentary, say at the computer, they create many uncomfortable feelings. These feelings are real sensations that come from the body; they are not simply figments of the imagination.
