What exactly are we looking at here? Are they some kind of sick-awesome wereshark?

I see that you have them down as goliath but also some other things I'm unfamiliar with. THE DESIGN IS SO COMPELLING I AM BEING COMPELLED RN TO ASK FOR MORE DEEEETS

so, firstly you are very much correct; she is a goliath and some sort of sick-awesome wereshark haha -- the idea here was that whenever she rages her visage would turn to that of a shark, but in a D&D sense, she is just a wildmagic barbarian.

The wereshark aspect, lore wise, is connected to her clan Hákarlunna which are a bunch of wereshark pirate/vikings lmao

This is all part of my homebrew world of WEUS, which takes some familiar dnd tropes and some not so familiar and mixes em together in a -what i hope- is a cool vibe.

you can see parts of it on the map there, which is a "goliath map" of a region called "The Manindron", a jungle peninsula filled with wild elfs and cute goblins. The Goliaths call it "Toryngien", which roughly translates to "Land of daggers" (this is what the text on the map says; "Fra himmelen af Toryngian" -- "Toryngien from the heavens"

uh the patterns are inspired by some bed coverings my late grandmothers made for me 20 years ago, which i love so much, so i use it in other drawings aswell (or aspects of it)

uh..... ok so the bull aspects in the drawing is a reference to a creation myth of the isle of Hoorn, where the celestial bull was slain and its body became the island, and out of their stomach the Sahal the first came out to guide the Sahalyari -- which isnt all that important to Eirdis her, i just like the motif lol

oh and the text on the side is in Elder Futhark, which says "Eirdis Ins Thrasarr -- Hákarlunna" -- which roughly translates to "Eirdis the Wrathfull -- shark born/follower" :-)

The incidental and marginal art is almost as compelling as the portrait its self!

I love the way you include motifs that aren't directly related to the character or her history but inform the reader of the culture she'd be familiar with just from living in the world! The objects she's surrounded by tell me just as much about the world as they do about the person who owns them! She's not a Shark Themed Barbarian, she's a Weus themed barbarian with shark features. It's a huge difference and you pull it off stunningly!

My favorite part is the almost bas-relief style used in the little were-shark portrait! She's so happy!

Do you have a central place where you accumulate your world lore or does it live mostly in your head?

i have a couple of more stuff here on Tumblr, under the WEUS tag and some sporadicly on Toyhouse, altho some of the stuff is outdated/ sketches of ideas to this world -- but i really want to make a kinda of "portal" for my little writings and sketchings! maybe in the future!

I'm the slowest painter, but here's Sonen!

I swear this paper says is suited for watercolor, but that's not true! It's beyond terrible. I fighted until the end, and even with all that, the illustration didn't turn out as expected. I'm a bit mad about it, but I know I should have tested the paper first.

I will try a alcohol markers painting next time, to see if this papers has some uses besides full ink illustrations.

KIRIPIKI THE ENLINGERING LIMERENCE another freaking cyte that came to be in a dream like two nights ago. She was such a strange strange individual. Kiripiki was dredging through flooded industrial sites, looking for parasitic life forms. Just anything. Worms, leeches, crustaceans and with incredible urgency. A lust, dare i say. It really felt as though she was deeply addicted to some sense of co-dependency. She was very very very odd. But i appreciate seeing her.

Tsurugi!!!! I met her in a dream and i've been doodling her some since. She told me her name in said dream as well. It felt very special

i don't think those lines are lacerations or cuts but just her heatpits... but they reaaally stretched down far. They looked painful but i knew they weren't.

these where the impetus for her creation! wanted to make a spikey medusa
