there was no right answer but the one she’s given him. he poorly tries to hide a fleeting smile at the quip. “oh, i’ll certainly take it under advisement.” rafael takes the cutout away from his face before movement at the booth catches his eye. he studies the laughing guests step away from the booth, oversized props in their hands making him lift an eyebrow. “photo booths make this all feel like a bad wedding. and if there’s something worse than a bad wedding it’s being invited to a bad wedding.”
“ oh this is exactly like a bad wedding. photo booth, bland music , bad dancing. an open bar keeping everyone together ... ” her gaze travels to the same couple that catches his attention , making her add : “ ... and you can be sure a lot of people are gonna make decisions they’ll regret in the morning. ” she laughs inwardly , making a mental note to tell jules and ava about how friendly detectives carver and reagan look , even at a distance. “ looks like it’s our turn. ” she uses another prop , this time a handlebar mustache , to point at the vacant booth. it’s only a half joke ; she suspects barba wouldn’t be caught dead in one of those , but still makes the suggestion hanging onto some childish hope , just to see if it sticks.
