âPerhaps you have forgotten. Thatâs one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and heâll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and heâll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishmanââ He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. âIf he ever knew, he has forgotten. âMove on!â you tell us. âMove on! Forget what weâve done to you. Tomorrowâs another day!â But it isnât, Mr. Brue.â He still had Brueâs hand. âTomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.â
- A Most Wanted Man, John le Carré

I saw recently a tiktok of a women on a plane speaking up for a person who was being taken by ICE. While she was doing that you can hear people in the background complaining about her and another person actually tells her to "not get political". It reminded of this :

Islamophobic violence is also in the way the ministry of interior (who is also the ministry of religions) stopped everything when a synagogue was attacked and visited the synagogue in the following hours. He did the same when it happened in a school. He did the same for everyone. But when a Muslim man, is killed inside a mosque because he is Muslim he didnât go. He didnât cancel any of his unimportant meeting. He waited 48h before going to a big city NEAR the village where the mosque is but he didnât go to the mosque.
Islamophobic violence is also when that same ministry of the interior goes on TV and say that the march against Islamophobia and to honor Aboubakar (Allah yarhmou) wasnât a good thing and itâs actually a disservice to Muslims because weâre supposedly French like everyone and that march was somehow implying we are not.
Islamophobic violence is also when the family of Aboubakar Cisse says that the ministry of the interior refused to meet them.
Islamophobic violence is also when that very same ministry of the interior talks about Aboubakar on Sunday but cannot pronounce his name and says âthe individualâ and in the same interview use that same word to designate the murderer. Designating both the victim and his murderer with the same generic almost dehumanizing word.
Islamophobic violence is also when a French representative at the National Assembly tells to the ministry of the interior that he should resign and calls him out on being unable to say the name of the victim (it is VERY simple to pronounce it in French weâre not even asking for the proper accent) that same ministry of the interior answers and butchers Aboubakarâs name again.
