So I didn’t get any pics of the nasty insides of the dinosaur because THE ENTIRE TOY WAS FUCKING SUPERGLUED TOGETHER

I thought I could unscrew the toy to open it and clean it out and be done but noooo they glued every inch of this thing. Ok

So I couldn’t get my camera in there for pics, but I got some external pictures of the dirt

Dirt pics first:

Spiders weren’t the only bug in him!!! I also found some ants, one tiny millipede, FUCKING EMPTY EGG SACS FROM WHO THE HELL KNOWS WHAT, shed molts, miscellaneous bug legs, and a few other nearly unidentifiable clumps. Eugh. His sound box was full of webs, water damage, dirt clumps and whatever else, so I just took that out entirely, along with his battery compartment and any wires I could pull out. All just so nasty

That painted scar and his tooth paint is atrocious but he’s clean!!! No more dirt caked in his scales! No more bug eggs!! No more webs!!!

And here’s (what used to be) the battery compartment

I know, the plastic around the edges is warped and scuffed bc I had to literally pry him open bc someone at hasbro or mattel decided to glue instead of screw. TRUST ME THIS IS BETTER THAN THE BUGS. Trust.

Anyway, now that he’s CLEAN I’m going to use some clay and eva putty and paint to repair the places that were damaged during the bug removal. New belly plate, new paint, plugging the holes in the bottom of his feet (spiders were in there too) probably repainting or even just removing that red squiggle they tried to pass off as a “scar.” He’ll get the works

Anyway, he’s been through A LOT including taking a dirt nap, being revived and having his insides partially removed. I don’t usually name my dinos, but I’ve decided to call this guy DirtNap. Because that is exactly what he did for a while. He’s also a pretty tough looking guy. He has earned this new name

Off to do the repairs!

Ok update:

I tried to sculpt the eva foam clay to match his wrinkles and then I tried to sculpt those scales that imaginext dragons used to have on their underside, like those scale-abs or whatever and then I forgot to sculpt the piece on the base of his tail before it dried ._.

Live never sculpted scales before, leave me alone. I actually almost never sculpt anything now that I think about it…. Idk I hope it looks better with paint on it

I also plugged his feet bc. Well bc I don’t like the holes and also there here bugs in tgere.

Gotta wait for it to fully dry before I paint

My acrylic eye blanks finally arrived! …. 3 days before I leave for the trip ._. So I can’t use them until I get back

My flex pla also came in a while ago so I gotta get some tongue models to use to print them! (Or maybe some ears? Noses? Pawpads?)

Anyway, tiny update, nothing can really get done until I get back from the trip in around mid July

My new extension springs came!! Now I can hinge the jaws on my head bases!!

I also woke up at like… 1:45pm and now it’s almost 3pm so…. Gimme some time, today is a slow day…. -_-💤

The extension springs I got to hinge the jaws on my suits are too big and wayy too strong, so I ordered some smaller, thinner ones. Also my work on suits is kinda paused because my parents brought back furniture for me from my aunts house… and I gotta make room in my studio for it, which means a lot of moving and reorganizing in there :,|

Like I’m glad to get some furniture, I just gotta figure out where to put it :| :| :| :|

Both head bases are printed and glued. I think while I’m making room in the studio, I’ll have the printer make those new resized claws I planned for, that way, progress is being made but I also don’t have to make more of a mess while doing larger work in the studio. IDK!!!

Change stresses me out so I’m kinda freaked about the studio having to be moved around. Like when u rearrange an animal’s enclosure…. Like what is happening…. Why did my stuff get switched around??? Is it safe to come out yet?????

My new flex pla arrived, but I got bit by a spider on my elbow yesterday, so I can’t do any work in the studio bc my arm is so sore :/

I’ll try it out in a couple days when my arm rests up

#also my vulture head is all printed and glued! but I didn’t get pics #I still love spiders #currently doing sudoku. minimal arm action

The last part of my pterosaur head is printing, then I will print my vulture. I’ll glue the ptero head pieces together and let them cure while the vulture prints

The ptero has cute little teeths included, too

I’ll also test-print some new sizes for claws l, the smallest being 2.5in and the largest being 4in (specifically sized for feetpaws)

I love when people make realistic fursuit head bases with big as fuck sight ports. I DONT CARE IF IT FUCKS WITH THE FLOW OF THE DESIGN!!! I DONT CARE IF THEY ARE CONSPICUOUS!!! I LIKE TO SEE!!!!!

On a related note, I’m slicing the files for some new head bases. GOOD ones that I like and I can see out of

#I hope the days of ‘realistic suits just do t have good vision’ is swiftly killed #you should be able to look cool AND SEE #we need to consider not just how the suit looks from the outside but how it feels from the inside #we have to consider the wearer’s comfort more than the looks methinks #I’m half blind already as it is #fursuit making #also I’m perusing the world of small pterosaurs. I like them a lot

Oh I also ordered some extension springs (so I don’t have to make my moving-jaw suits with elastic) and I’m looking into a new place to get my realistic eye blanks from (my current supply is too expensive and not reliable) so I’ve been mostly working on a few quality-of-life improvements in the way I work and my supplies as opposed to making any suits recently. I do have some things in the works, including a funky new pterosaur headbase I found online. And a vulture one. Been getting into being a bird lately

I know there hasn’t been an update in a while, I’ve been playing video games and cleaning up toys in my spare time recently, but I did find a flexible pla filament online, so I’m gonna buy it and see if I can print some squishy tongues or paw pads for fursuits. I’ll update when that arrives and I can print some stuff out with it!

#I’m also looking into some digital sculpting softwares so I can make my own models #I’m trying to save money though so subscription services are out of the question #and any program over 100$ upfront #which narrows me down soooo much #but idk. I’ll persevere

Soooo trying to resize the pattern on my computer Did Not Work either, so I went back to the original idea with the light projector, but this time I got serious

I taped that thang to the fuckin floor. And it goddam worked. Everything should be biggified and scaled properly to eachother.

I didn’t get pics cuz I was so locked in but I duck taped the light projector to the floor and taped some cardboard to the doors of the studio and I traced the patterns. It was an odd setup but it got the job done.

I’m debating whether to make a test foot with the new big pattern or to just make the final foot to save time and resources. Idk that’s for tomorrow me. It’s 9pm and I’m tired and I’m eating ramen. Meow.

Tried sizing up my patterns manually…. Did not work out…. This was the setup….

Everything came out a little larger or smaller than it should be, so instead I’m taking pictures of the original mini patterns, emailing them to myself, then tracing them in a drawing program, then saving those images and printing THOSE out.

#ugh #the parts of making fursuits that no one tells you about #unless I’m just doing it very wrong. I’m probably doing it wrong #if there’s an obvious solution that I’ve overlooked bc autism will do that :|#it looks like ripped footage from a secret lost media screening lol

I’m a little busy with other life stuff, but I finished printing this raptor headbase (that I will modify to make a dilophosaur) by RDBCOSPLAY on cults3D

And I also loaded up some claws by WittleStudios on etsy to make some preset claws for future suits and I made a few sizes, including an extra large claw set for feetpaws. My usual claw set was on the sd card that got corrupted, so I had to make new ones and I figured I’d make some different sizes while I was at it.

I still don’t know if I want to paint this base, I think I’ll still make one that’s 3d printed in color so see how that turns out. This base looks so good as it is and if I paint it, then I can’t un-paint it… although I suppose I could just print another but that’s a lot of filament to use up. Idk

Printing in color would also make the color resistant to scratches, chips, fading, abrasions, etc. that you get with paint. Idk idk…. It’s kind of a lot to buy all the colors I’d need bc I don’t really have the ones I’d need…..

I also plan on making hand and feet paws for my yuty, but I also need more materials for that. Just sort of mundane stuff I’m working on enjoy really stuff I can post pics about lol
