Succession (2018 - 2023)

Succession (2018 - 2023)
1x02 - Shit Show at the Fuck Factory
I’m rewatching Succession, and there’s a moment that really stands out to me. In the first season, when they have the vote on the Sura motion for Logan and Kendall loses, Ewan travels all the way from Canada to vote in favor of his brother even though they don’t talk, even though every time they see each other they throw all the dirt possible at each other, even though Ewan can’t stand him and thinks he’s a total bastard, even though Ewan can’t stand the family, even though Ewan is fed up with everyone, he still travels to vote for his brother. Because, as he tells Kendall, his brother might be the worst bastard in history, but he’s still his brother.
Meanwhile, Roman chickens out and can’t bring himself to vote in favor of kicking out his father. I mean, he can’t vote for Kendall’s plan. And that’s really interesting in terms of family dynamics, because throughout the series we see that the Roy siblings never really get anywhere and never achieve their goals. That’s because, even when they temporarily unite, they always betray each other. They have such a need for validation that their father never gave them, that they need to validate themselves individually. They always have a very self-centered and self-indulgent view of their successes. They don’t understand success through unity, they see unity as a means to achieve success. And that’s what always brings them down.
Meanwhile, Ewan and Logan, who are brothers but had to go through poverty, had to make themselves and had to work together to survive, are incredibly dysfunctional, have a terrible relationship, and a very broken dynamic but when it comes down to it, when Logan needs his brother, his brother is there for him. And he’s never going to betray him. He can insult him, humiliate him publicly, say all the things no one else dares to say but he’ll never betray his brother. And that’s a law. I could beat up my brother and break his teeth, but no one else can beat up my brother and break his teeth.
In contrast, the Roy siblings beat each other so hard that not only do they break each other’s teeth, they destroy each other entirely and devour one another. And that’s something their father taught them, something he instilled in them so that they would never be united enough to overthrow him.

Okay but a bit of Squid Game x Strangers From Hell crossover and headcanons
Tw: stalking, gaslighting, attachement issues
I've been thinking about Lee Myung-gi (player 333) being the same person as Yoon Jong Woo...well, almost the same. In this version the Lee Myung-gi takes the main part. Before creating his yt channel and making a hit on crypto he used to be a poor college student or smth and rented a gosiwon in that hostel/house which was shown in Strangers from hell. So he met Seo Moon Jo, who was a young dentist.
So, they knew each other really close and got attached to each other, especially Moon Jo. Probably Moon Jo wasn't identically same like in the original series but he had certain attachement issues. He was jealous of Myung-gi and refused to share him with others, Myung-gi could even have a gf and some friends but Moon Jo might scare all of them off. Yet he wasn't abusive/cruel to Myung-gi, but probably he tried to gaslight him in some way. He tried to make his new friend understand him and convince him that he was his only true and closest friend. Moon Jo found something same about them both so it became his intrusive idea and Myung-gi became his hyperfixation. He stalked him, again he got rid of his friends, he learnt all he could about him.
There was also something about Moon Jo, he was lonely as hell, and for Myung-gi he was as loyal as a dog. He cared bout him a lot. He would die for him.
Myung-gi also cared for his friend, anyway he felt quite uneasy and scared around him more and more. He felt the psyhosis himslef and tried his best to break his connection with Moon Jo and leave the apartment. Moon Jo tried to keep him but after some fights had no other option but let go. He fell into a deep black void of depression and sadness and a couple of years passed before he could get over it. For a bit. He kept stalking Myung-gi secretly, in social media and in real life, he subscribed to his yt channel and watched the videos, he knew all his gilfriends, in the end he even approached Kim Jun-hee (player 222) and talked to her (of course without his true identity reveal). He even learnt she was pregnant.
One more thing in this headcanon. Moon Jo someday dropped his work in a clinic and started working as a bartender in Pentagon club and also rented a small studio apartement. So he knew Namgyu (and Thanos too).
In the end he decided to involve into Myung-gi's scum scheme and obviously went broke. Until some day a sranger dressed in a suit finds him and invites him to play a game.
During new games on the secret island Myung-gi is stopped in a dormitory room by Thanos and Namgyu, who are trying to confront him, but someone touches Thanos' shoulder asking him to move. Myung-gi, to his shock, sees a face he hasn't seen for several years. The baige on his jacket reads "111".
Kim Jun-hee, Thanos and Namgyu are also surprised as hell. Especially Kim Jun-hee, she didn't even realise her ex knew that man that just helped her carry her bags one random day.
To be continued I guess
