this is a post about underscores galleria tour because i dont have anything else to talk about rn
so i went to the galleria tour... for a first concert, jesus christ i made the best choice ever and prob the most wild choice? its like if a 13 year old decided one day their first concert was gonna be death grips or metallica, but im not 13 and i dont listen to either of those artists. anyways JESUS CHRIST WHY IS THE UNDERSCORES CROWD WILDER THAN I THOUGHT?? like ok on twitter im always just talking to young women (who are prob lesbian in which #loveyall) and they seem so sweet! then i go to the concert and the gay men influx is so big and then theres more alt people than i expect. proof of how twitter really isnt how real life is because that def was a shift. but oh my god yall can actually enjoy concerts too. i dont think anybody at the show couldve just stood still or not sing along because the show was hype the second umru began his set all the way to underscores concluding with music. ok now to talk abt the concert starting with umrus set. as somebody who has been jealous of everyone who has seen umru live, I FINALLY GOT TO SEE HIM LIVE AND IM PROUD. he is prob one of my favorite djs currently besides vtss and a few others, but oh my god his sets are so good. he plays such a good variety of songs that you never know what is next. for me it was crazy seeing him go from kim petras to cortisa star to F5VE??? THEN JANE REMOVER AFTER F5VE?? like oh my god there is no way i just know half of the songs in his set. also when he played cortisas song i swear i was the only person who sung along to it. the visuals were great and im sorry but the little light he wore reminded me so much of an angler fish 😭
after umrus set, we finally got underscores, and WOW. prob the best set for a concert ever. it makes sense since this era is a lot more electropop that the crowds energy would match this album, but they matched it down to a tea. hyped during the more hype songs like do it and music, chiller during wish u well and what a girl gotta do. my fav part though? the visuals. she had some of the best visuals for the tour that all matched her songs so well. whether it was point a with her starting outside the venue then going inside and then copying that effect for wish u well and music, or the funny live umru reaction cam during popfile, they all made the songs come together even more and her stage presence was FELT. i still keep thinking about this concert because damn she truly did everything i wanted and more. overall, this is the best concert i couldve went to as my first one. i know i prob wont see april music after this considering how big shes growing and the likelyhood her tickets get more costly from here, but im glad i saw her at least one time in my life and hopefully many more times after this. i miss this show so much and wanna go back so bad. cheers to more underscores shows soon because i need to see her again.
dude i just posted this yesterday what DO YOU MEAN SO MUCH JUST HAPPENED FOR HER TODAY.

new charli xcx tonight holy shit
im literally gonna crash tf out oh my god its gonna be so good
ive sat with it for a bit i have opinions now im not shocked charli did smth weird because girl when is she not experimenting 😭😭😭 did i like it at first? honestly i was mixed. it was cute but it also just felt too short and not perfect. but after a few listens, it did hit. i love the glitching vocals and i wish she did it more because its on brand for her. the music video is chaotic but fun, and i am used to the length somewhat. i still wish it was longer but nonetheless it is a grower and i get it. no clue what the fuck xcx7 (or is it xcx8 idk) is gonna sound like but im still excited.

the surge of concert cancellations seems scary but also expected
ok lets be real for a second, i bet if i walked into a room of 100 people, none of them were planning to buy tickets for post malone, meghan trainor, zayn... the list goes on. and no, im not saying theyre bad artists! i like some of the older post malone records (esp hollywoods bleeding) and zayn has been on my radar for a bit. the thing is, nobody can simply afford these artists anymore. and the thing is, a lot of these artists who are touring book too big of venues when their size is half of what it used to be.
lets use slayyyter for example. she is at a growth point in her career right now, so shes been starting to blow up a TON both online and irl. her concerts have been selling out INSTANTLY. she is booking smaller venues that her label know fit her audience, so she is able to get a sold out tour and fill her venues. now lets look at meghan trainor. shes been on a stuck point for awhile in her career. yes, she has had some viral social media songs like mother or made you look, but viral tiktok audios dont equal sales. she hasnt had a big album era in a long time, and she isnt grabbing peoples attention like she did in 2014-2016. in simple terms, she might have 21 million monthly listeners, but a lot of them very likely only stream her biggest hits. more importantly, spotify will consider people fans of an artist if they stream just 30 seconds of a song. so if you really did the math there, that number is at least a quarter if not even less than that.
it doesnt help that concerts are also controlled by one whole monopoly who adds many fees and ups the prices of concerts so they can profit and pay the artists and venues way less. people just cant simply afford concerts. an average concert ticket nowadays is 100 dollars PER PERSON, sometimes even more! you want better seats? vip? maybe the chance to get in early? you pay even more! this is just the ticket by the way. no food, travel expenses, hotels if you dont live nearby and can drive there and back in the same day, car rentals if you travel into state... it all adds up. im going to my first concert this month, and i know its gonna be expensive. thankfully im going there and back and i live in california (socal to be exact) so its not a bad drive, but still it will cost a lot. concerts were never made to be inaffordable, its just the corporate greed that made them expensive, the inability to book smaller venues that fit an artists real audience size, and the amount of concerts that only go to the same cities in california and new york, which itself is a whole other issue that needs to be talked about.
so if you are a meghan trainor fan who had tickets to her concert and are wondering "why did he just cancel it out of nowhere?", blame ticketmaster and her label for thinking she could book the massive venues she was supposed to sell out somehow.
quarter 1 of my topsters from 2026! (january - april)
yes, i do listen to this many albums daily! it is a problem 😭😭 a lot of it is because i do just stream them at school and having school for about 7-8 hours a day, i do not socialize that much so that is when i get the most time to hear these. i dont stream many albums daily either, on average its about 3 albums max, sometimes i do push myself though! a lot of these are also eps, which also lets me grow my topsters to these HUGE chart sizes. i will always relisten to these albums though in the future, im very open to second and third chances. i just love music and i will stream whatever. cheers to the summer! itll prob be a lot less new music, but who knows?
why has there been a random electropop boom out of nowhere?
like ok i am def apart of that group that LOVES electronic music and esp electropop (3/5 of my fav albums on aoty are electropop / have electropop songs), but it seems so random..? im really curious bc prior to covid, electropop was still being made but not at the huge extremes it is now. even then, any electropop albums before covid still were very laid back, not super loud, and definitely not party albums. ofc when brat dropped, the music industry finally saw what charli had been doing for a decade at that point and many more artists began to follow suit and get their flowers. comparing the amount of big electropop albums (either online or globally) from 2024 to 2025 is a HUGE difference. 2024 mainly had brat and smile, but there was also snow strippers, the hellp, and le sserafims crazy which remains one of their biggest songs. but compare that to last year, and its a HUGE difference. adela, rebecca black, rose gray, frost children, ayesha erotica, ashnikko... the list goes on. even now we have slayyyters new album, underscores new album which was a full 180 from wallsocket and fishmonger, tiffany days album, robyns first new album since 2018, fcukers, kim petras new album on the way... and now kpop groups are trying to cash in on the trend with illit getting the deep to write one of their newest songs that dropped today. it feels weird that suddenly we are seeing more of these loud fun party albums after a few years of more slow alt-pop records from people like lana and lorde. alt-pop ofc isnt dead, there are still many records dropping, but im starting to notice this shift pretty quickly and i feel like in another year the mainstream artists will be following suit. im just curious what even caused this shift in the first place? like i know brat was BIG, but generally online people were only using apple, 360, and the guess remix, and the albums that have been dropping are nothing like those songs (well besides guess). im too dumb to like fully deep dive and look at trends to see why the shift happened, but my own personal guess has to do with the state of the world, which i think is funny bc brat dropped before the 2024 election. could this be a "recession indicator", or are we all just deciding to ignore the state of the world by blasting the loudest electropop songs known to man? either way, im hoping in 2 years people dont move on and then begin calling everything that is electropop "electroslop", but with kpop already shifting their way to making electropop albums... yeah we might be cooked 😭😭😭
