A scoff was all Nyx elicited from Dee. Sheâd been wanting to go off and explore every nook and cranny of Bartonâthe exact same thing she did when she first got here. What had changed? Who was still around? What was everyone doing? There were so many unanswered questions, and being anchored to a barstool for the rest of the night didnât sound all too enticing. But hellâit was what Nyx wanted to do. She worked at the Anti-Hero pub for forever, and Dee figured there must be some sentiment in the dusty old bar.
âYou wouldnât even want to go on a walk with me later tonight?â she asked after a couple of minutes with a modest sweetness âI thought it might be romantic.â
Nyx could only feign a glare back at the woman sat by her side. She was excited to be back in Barton Hollow because even though it held a lot of bad for her, it held more good. This was where sheâd met Dee in the first place and that really did mean something to her. She ordered them both drinks before sitting back. âListen-- How about you just be the one to walk me home later. Sounds a little more romantic than just a plain old walk.â The fury leaned in and placed a sweet kiss on Deeâs cheek, the grin on her lips remaining unmoved. âBut.. You know, out of interest; where were you thinking of walking to?â
