FOMO 2016: FEAR NOT
FOMO - ˈfəʊməʊ [Noun]: “Having anxiety due to an exciting or interesting event may currently be undertaken elsewhere causing a person to miss out.”
Fear not because the FOMO festival is here: One stage, 11 artists, no clashes, party together!
FOMO is the largest party in the Brisbane this year, located at Gardens Point river stage! Even though it’s the festival’s first year they’ve invited huge acts from all over the globe! The likes of Boys Noize, RL Grimes, Jamie xx, and Flight Facilities are few of the big names hitting the stage! The best thing about this festival is that it doesn’t give you “FOMO” all the acts play on one stage, meaning no clashes, no fear of missing out!
Besides the great music, there’s fantastic food! The “Juan More Taco” Truck, “Doughnut Time” and many more fanciful foods are available for you to munch down on as you listen to the bangers!
Here’s a quick rundown of the day:
Brisbane’s own, UV Boi began the festival with a bang! His mellow tunes set the stage for an epic day! A nice little touch was the addition of his family coming along to support him. All in all an ideal start for FOMO 2016!
Rounding toward the middle of the day, Keys n Krates, the Trio from Toronto dropped my jaw with amazement! They truly know how to work a crowd! The mosh pit was smoking, the hill was packed, and my soul left the building! Their technical skill was on point!
There was no down side so far! Would it come? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
Jamie xx, Flight Facilities accompanied by Owl Eyes and Touch Sensitive, then rounding off the festival with RL Grimes was a special moment. These musical powerhouses further packed the mosh and hillside, sending the crowd mental - a LEGENDARY day, and way to kick off 2016!
futuremag also went around asking the crowd how they found the festival… Here are some of the responses: “Legendary, loving every single moment!” “Are you Jimmy from FF?” “FOMO better be back next year!” “All the acts are killing it!” “SKEPTER! Love me please!” The overwhelming praise and love for the festival is astounding and well deserved! The collaboration of Steve Pappas, husband wife duo Anand and Jessica Krishnaswamy - the artists, all the staff, volunteers, emergency services, and everyone involved has created an absolute blast in the music scene of the sunshine state! A well needed addition to Australia’s arsenal of magnificent music festivals. Bring on FOMO 2017 - We can’t wait! /lb
