Pride of the fallen witch [OPEN]
Humanity was beautiful and yet, so ugly. A fleeting existence, influenced by multiple factors leading towards multiple possibilities. A person’s entire existence could change drastically based on certain events happening at certain times. What if the first man on the moon had never wished to be an astronaut? What if he wished to be a painter instead? What if the author of a successful book had never gotten the chance to pitch the idea? They would be just another bitter person complaining on the internet. It was amazing how even the smallest of events could change a human being’s life, for better or worse. It was because of this that she marveled over them. The endless possibilities and potential they had.
In a way, it could be said that she loved humans. And yet despised them.
Such an example became evident at the horrible act being committed within sector oo1. While sector oo3 was the most crime laden district of the city it was not rare for some of it’s criminals to venture into other locations. A group of such men had found their way into a small shop, locking themselves in with the shopkeeper and his wife. A target for assassination? Or perhaps a grude?
With the door barricaded and the woman’s screams originating from inside, a group of individuals had tried to break their way in to see what was amiss. A heavily barred door with no other way in or out. A closed room. A sloppily crafted one, but a closed room nonetheless. How fortunate for her then. Making her way into a closed room was child’s play. Logic wasn’t even necessary for it.
Unfortunately the shopkeeper had been killed while defending his wife. This alone had left the poor woman in a state of shock and an easy target for the guns being pointed towards her person. Truly this was the ugly side of humanity. What unfortunate event could have occurred in their lives to have lead them to this? It did not matter in the end.
Their lives were forfeit. A decision made on nothing more than a whim. She simply felt the need to dole out justice on those who would attack a blameless couple. But she would not intervene directly. It would have been more merciful if she did, however. Several set of eyes grew wide in shock as two, almost demonic looking creatures appeared. Both standing in front of an elegantly dressed woman who had inexplicably found her way in. The firearms were pointed towards her and her servants reacted immediately.
It would not be swift. Nor would it be pretty. These goat servants who possessed the minds of wild beasts.. And the appetite to match. Limbs flew every which way, blood decorating the various walls and ornaments around her. By the end of it, nothing remained but heaps of torn flesh. She did not enjoy it, but in the end, she had saved a life. Perhaps that reward alone made it worth having to see such a nasty display. With a snap of her fingers the goats vanished. And the witch neared the woman.
But as she knelt over to ask if she was alright, she noticed the look on her face. As well as the way she backed herself into a corner. The shock of losing her husband was difficult enough. But the scene that played before her.. A woman summoning demonic beings and tearing human beings to shreds. It was far too much for a person to handle. It felt as if her mind would break at any moment. And at that moment, the door had swung open. It seemed the outside party had finally managed their way in. And the collective looks of disgust were more than apparent.
This people of this city were no strangers to violent sights. They had even come to accept them a normal and did their best to simply avoid it. She had hoped for a cleaner way of dispatching those men, but she had no other choice, what with her ordinary magic having been sealed. However..
'It's one of them, isn't it? Those people with powers that go around killing people just 'cause they can!'
'Uwah.. She's looking this way. Maybe we should get..'
'There's still someone left! Shouldn't we help?'
Many people here possessed powers and used them responsibly. Others simply used them for wanton destruction. And then there were those without it, simply caught in the middle and forced to accept it all. But it seemed not everyone did. There were apparently people who had taken issue with people such as herself. Even to the extent where they would not wait for an explanation and place blame on the spot. Perhaps this was not the best place to be at the moment. It wasn’t as though she helped this woman for recognition anyway.
She simply exited out the door, past the group who swiftly parted as she walked past. They would help that poor woman now. She had no more need to be- *CRACK*
She staggered for a moment. Her vision blurring for a split second as she regained her bearings. And a throbbing pain along the side of her head. Casting her eyes towards the floor she noticed.. a brick? Those people she had just past apparently gathered out among a steadily growing number of people, all throwing venomous glances towards her. Clearly she’d been dubbed a villain here. And so they thought to chase her away for ‘the good of everyone else’.
'Get outta here, you bitch! We're not gonna take this lying down anymore! And if you try to attack us th-the avengers will come after you!'
Another object came flying, and struck her directly against her forehead. This time her skin had been split, and blood tricked down the side of her face.
Humans truly were beautiful.. and ugly.
