So if somehow y’all don’t know, Mal is the punching bag of the entire Grishaverse. Mostly everyone hates him (and then turn around and stan the Darkling for some reason?), and basically nobody wanted Alina to end up with him. “But wehatethedarkling!” you must be saying, “Mal is a trash bag! Why do you hate the Darkling but not Mal?”

Okay but one thing I love about the trailer is how it uses the "You and I are going to change the world" line. Not just with how it's delivered, but also with how it plays with the audience's expectations.

Most people seeing the trailer would not have read the books. Most people will go into Shadow and Bone thinking the Darkling is the good guy, and I looove how the trailer reinforces that. It makes it seem like the books are about two people finding the stag and saving the world. So when the plot twist comes around of what the show is really about and who the antagonist is, it's all the more impactful. It's the same reason they changed the Darkling's name in the first place.

Look all I'm saying is that we'll see a whole new wave of Darkling simps suffer, and I'm ready for it.
