This year, Random Acts is teaming with GISH and Giles Duley’s Legacy of War to help change the lives of women who’ve survived incredible hardship and loss: survivors of genocide in Rwanda. Together, we’re going to help a group of 100 hardworking women (many of them widowed from the genocide) build a sustainable farming cooperative and market, allowing them to achieve their dream of economic stability and independence. Nose reconstruction

20 June 2018 I had my nose reconstructed. Why? Because my septum was skew and one side of my nose was a bit more closed, resulting in lack of oxygen entering. (I will update once I know the correct terms etc.) I went in (a bit nervous) but making jokes because that's what I do when I'm a bit scared. One thing for certain is that the place I was at, had AMAZING staff. Very friendly, helpful and reassuring. Next to my bed was a Lilo and Stitch poster, and to be honest it put me quite at ease since it is one of my favourite movies of all time. The doctors explained everything to me and soon I had to go in. I was chatting to one of the nurses about my degree and the one of the Subjects I have is Psychology. She asked me very nicely not to psychoanalyse her. (I wouldn't be able to anyway, because they gave me a tablet to relax). I was very dazed to be honest. I fell asleep so quickly from the anesthetics. I wish I was able to fall asleep like that every evening. Probably the best sleep I have ever had. When I woke up, I felt a bit weird. I had things up my nose and wasn't able to breathe through my nose for a bit. I was just really thirsty when I woke up. It was even weirder when they took it out... I got to leave after a few hours. I really want to get back into my writing and that is why I decided to write about my experience of having my nose reconstructed. I do apologise for not having all the correct terms as I was very out of it, when everything was being explained. Check back daily for updates
