When Veronica is introduced, she hates being called Veronica Reyes and insists on being called her prior name, Daigo Kasumi. She also wears her og shorts look with the brown and yellow bow as her own little rebellion against her father's misogynistic views, despite her being a "girly girl".

After meeting the rats and helping them get used to Cuba after moving there, she starts to realise that, hey, maybe Cuba isn't so bad and decides on a little outfit change. She didn't like the colour themes of clothing she saw in shops, so she made her own instead because she gotta keep up that neapolitan look. Of course, she got Mama/Papa Teach's opinions before getting the Rats' opinions.
