And You Don’t Even Know It - Jamie London
Jamie Finale: Out is the Darkness
I’ve been off tumblr for a while but I’m so happy to see all of the love and recognition Jamie has been getting! ❤️❤️❤️
jamie dump
aesthetics >>> everybody’s talking about jamie (music by dan gillespie sells, lyrics and book by tom macrae)
“i’m on my way, I won’t be turned your stupid lessons I’ve unlearned and I’ll be free to fly and I’m gonna kiss the sun!”
I make musical posters / phone wallpapers now.
Last night I saw the live screening of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Capitol theatre in Horsham and it was fabulous!
The songs were amazing, the choreography was out of this world, how John Mccrae walks and dances in those heels blows my mind! I definitely need to go and see it live now.
If you love drag queens and want a feel good musical, this show is for you. I have also already bought the soundtrack and the book!
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie - 5th July 2018 Live Cinema Screening
God bless the producers for making the decision to broadcast this in cinemas. I’m not sure when I’d have got round to seeing it in London so this was a great way to see it without travelling and without spending a fortune. When will more shows start doing this?
Anyway. A few thoughts.
The plot - is beautiful and uplifting. Tells the tale of an LGBTQ boy in working class Sheffield who has a difficult home and school life, and dreams of being a drag queen. It’s just lovely.
The music - is written by Dan Gillespie-Sells, front man of The Feeling. The whole thing felt a bit like one of their albums, which is absolutely fine by me because they’re one of my favourite bands. My favourites were the up-beat numbers, ‘Don’t Even Know It’ and 'Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’. Quite a lot of ballads, which did kill the pace at times, but performed so incredibly. Josie Walker singing 'He’s My Boy’ made my spine tingle.
The choreography - was the best thing about the show. So high energy and creative, and the ensemble were just brilliant. This should have won the Olivier for best choreo. Sorry Hamilton.
The cast - Amazing, incredible, phenomenal. John McCrea is a revelation. Josie Walker moved me to tears multiple times. Lucie Shorthouse has a really beautiful voice and was so likeable and sincere as Pritti. The ensemble I’ve already mentioned. 8/10 Sheffield accents. Also this cast is really diverse which gets a massive thumbs up from me.
Overall, I liked it. I’m really glad I’ve seen it. It’s a very uplifting and fun night at the theatre. But I’m not sure I’d fork out to see it on the West End? (Although I am very curious to see Luke Bayer as Jamie…) I kind of get why it didn’t win any Oliviers (except the choreo one, it should have won that one). Even though the music and score and cast are great, it just felt like a little slow-paced at times.
That’s it.
did any of my followers go and see Everybody’s Talking About Jamie last night being broadcast into cinemas because OH MY GOD. I had heard about the musical, but hadn’t listened to any of the songs until last night.
Holy shit, I was blown away.
SO MUCH DIVERSITY! Which I loved and Pritti was just so beautiful and, I loved Rae because she’s just the sassy unofficial Aunt and was incredible! The writing was so good, and so relevant to today, the humour was spot on.
The songs were so fucking amazing, like Jamie’s mum singing “He’s My Boy” Holy shit, she nailed that song, and I was in tears because of how amazing it was!
✨ HE’S THE HEADLINE ACT ✨
So incredibly proud of the Jamie cast after last night’s broadcast!
Saw Everybody’s Talking About Jamie last night as it was being done as a screening of the west end production to my local theatre and I loved it
It’s amazing and British and has a LGBT lead character and he is considered to be working class, as are his peers. Plus his best friend in the show is a Muslim girl and they stand up to bullying and it’s so wonderful and beautiful and people should definitely listen to the soundtrack. Particular highlights for me are And You Don’t Even Know It, The Wall In My Head, Spotlight, Limited Edition Prom Night Special and It Means Beautiful. Though the whole soundtrack is undeniably amazing and it’s wonderful and the show was based on a documentary and is brilliant and ahhh
Also Prom Song is great just for the girls and the ‘bloody hell Pritti’ at the end of it so shoutout to that song bc the majority of the girls section in that song was my thoughts at my year 13 prom
went to see this recently and it was great! I could resist drawing Jamie’s final drag look. hope you like it!
joannavanderhamofficialI t’s no wonder everybody’s talking about #everybodystalkingaboutjamie this show is BRILLIANT what a talented cast (here’s me trying to sing like jamie - it’ll never happen- go see the real deal!) . . #theatre #musical #london #drag #whatson
first ever pride? ☑️ front row to see the cast of jamie SLAY? ☑️ MEETING JAMIE CAMPBELL ☑️ could not be more happy ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I know it’s been a while but I just saw the live screening of Jamie and it absolutely blew me away!
