#regardless of how you view their relationship#the fact that it exists AS IT DOES is so fucking important#this is the beating heart of the show#this is the beginning middle and end#like hatwell talked a great game about how important angie was structurally to agent carter and how great female friendships are#but like#THIS is what it looks like to have a female friendship at the heart of a show#there is no removing trish from this story#there is no ‘she is jessica’s support system’#she is jessica’s everything#and jessica is everything to her#there is nothing they wouldn’t do for each other#nothing they wouldn’t be for each other#and that kind of love is so rarely on screen for women#we see ride or die dudes all the time#but this?#this is something new

I always liked Gwen and Mary Jane’s friendship, even though I’m not such an avid reader of Spider-man and that might have changed a bit since last I checked. (Retcons. Retcons everywhere.) I just really like it when women who both happen to like the same guy aren’t at each other’s throats all the time.

Well, it’s debateible if Stan and Romita intended for Mary Jane and Gwen to be friends, I do think that the first panel of this photoset shows that they were friends. Mary Jane does look like she wants to cheer Gwen up and like cares about her as a friend.
