Hours, Days, Years
Toshinori Yagi (All Might) x Reader
All I ever here from you is “no”, “not yet”, and “you should move on”
How do I do this with how much you mean to me?
“I need to work on myself, to be the symbol of peace the world truly needs”
I will wait
Hours, days, now years
Two to be specific
I see you grow from the sidelines, wishing I could grow with you
Cheering you on, but drowned out by the worlds cheers
Cheering for their symbol, cheering for progress
You tell me “don’t wait for me”
My heart screams “just a little longer”
“Someday he’ll remember how he felt, how he captured my heart”
“Someday he’ll respond”
The waiting
Hours, days and now years
You grip your phone tightly. It’s your birthday and the only person you wanted to hear from has been silent all day. Plans made for tonight. A night of celebrations, it would be a way to rebond with each other after many months of one-two word replies and radio silence.
You grasp your phone tighter, tears now streaming down your face onto your phone. Illuminated is only a slew of apologizes and promises to reschedule. You should’ve known, the world needs him more.
So we wait..
Hours days years
For the next glimmer of hope that he still feels the same, wants you to wait
Hours days years
Every day without seeing him, the pain never changes
Hope and love reignited with every one word reply
You feel it’s time to cut the leash he hath made you
It’s vacation time, you download tinder and speak with people on there. Nobody feels the same, nobody is the same. You meet a man from there and god this man would move the world and heavens themselves for you. You hold him close, but he’s not your symbol. He’s not who you’ve spent hours days years on. He’s different, he’s here now, he’s better. He’s not him.
You know you should move on and be with someone who loves you so.
But you wait
Hours days years
He’ll come around, the world won’t always need him
One day, your phone rings blasting your music into your solemn waiting area, you lean off your bed to grab and answer it. It’s All Mights sidekick, Sir Nighteye. He gives you an address to a hospital and a closed off wing. Just for someone the world cannot see this way. You race over, not thinking twice, terrified you’ll be too late, hours days years all rushing through you, all memories, interactions, all at once.
“Please still be there”
“Live damnit”
You burst through the doors after obtaining a visitors pass. Nighteye meets you outside the door, trying to prepare you for what you may see. He’s lost almost his entire respiratory system, he’s lost his natural stomach. This was the result of an ultimate evil, the result of a horrific battle, the result of the world and himself creating this symbol.
You swing open the doors and see a massive and disheveled man laying in a bed far too small to accommodate him. Tubes coming from all over, coming from who knows where. He tilts his head slightly towards the door and smiles.
“You came for me”
You fall to the floor in tears, totally emotionally unprepared to see someone you love so much like this
“I’ll always be by your side whether you realize it or not,” you choke out with a slight bitterness to the man. But you had always been here
Hours days and now years.
Your sobs break the already broken hero. How could he truly face you this way? He failed you. He failed to become a symbol for you. He’s nothing now. How could he even protect you now?
“I’m sorry..” it’s all could get out before you kept up to hug him tightly, as tightly as you were able due to the numerous tubes and medical supplies attached to him.
This was what the world turned him into. They broke him down aabd threw him away, aa crippled and dying man.
But not you
You waited
Hours days years
You waited for him
He looked up at you, barely getting the words out, “I love you”
Who cares how much time you waited
Who cares about hours days even years
The only thing that mattered..
Was this.
